Thanks for all of the info everyone. I just bought a Bird B Gone MMRTH1 Hawk Decoy on amizon. I am so tired of these birds I am having it shipped overnight lol. If this does not work I will try the line and then think about getting a dog. But my wife is from Jamaica and dogs stay outside there, but I will talk it over with her. I also think my home owners insurance goes up if I have a dog and also my wife is 7 months pregnant. My 5 year old keeps asking for a dog though, so maybe I can use that biggrin

A powerful air-soft gun may work as well. 300+ ft per second should do the trick. It won't hurt them but they'll have no desire to come back and you can have some fun. Air-softs are great and they don't cause any damage like a BB gun - like no broken windows etc.

    Yeah, I said it.

Wanted to see if any of my buckeye brethren had any good suggestions. I have had it up to my wazoo with these dam geese.

    GEESE

We have a pond about ½ blocks from my house and the geese are bad. They come up in our yards and they take a crap everywhere. Last year there were about 15 to 20 of them, they have grown this year and are over 40 now. I live in Columbus, Ohio so I can’t break out the gun or anything like that. But our kids can’t even be out by their selves because the geese patrol the area like they own it instead of us. A neighbor bought a nice play area with swings and everything and we can’t even put it u p because there is just too much geese crap everywhere. Every day I come home from work and I have to go back to work to clean up all of the crap in my drive and on the sidewalks. The area is also starting to smell very bad.

Anyone know what I can do to get rid of them or stop them from coming into our living space.

    Things I have tried.

1.Talked with the developer 2.Talked with wildlife control 3.Talked with city community leaders

I don’t have a lot of cash, but some of the things that have been suggested.

1.Buy birdBgone ($300) can’t afford 2.Fence in the pond area, can’t afford 3.Buy a plastic hawk, was told that they would get use to seeing it and pay no attention to it after awhile.

  • Well I found a web site that you can download any animal sound from. So I looked up what geese are afraid of and found that they don’t like the Red Tailed Hawk, Fox, Wolf and Gators. So I downloaded all of those sounds, and now when I see them anywhere close to my property, I put my computer speakers in the window and I play the Hawk sound. When I do that they are gone in a minute, I haven’t seen them move so fast sense they have been hanging out in the neighborhood.
I ended up going to Lowes and buying 48 24in stakes and some twine. I put that up all around the outline of my property and had enough to do my neighbors on both sides of me. So I have had that up for 4 days now, and along with the Hawk sounds from my computer, they have not come anywhere close to my property. I have not even put the decoy hawk up; I received it later in the day in the mail. But like I said I have not put it up; if they start coming over again I will put the hawk up.
Anyone know how and where I can put the hawk up on my house?
    Picture below

    Thanks

Oh I don't want to put it down where somebody could take it. I wanted to put it on the roof, but I can not find a way to get it mounted up there. I have been to lowes looking around for something, but I couldnt find anything.

  • Not the same thing, but I had a rabbit problem (seriously, they creep me out and they just stare at you...). They just loved my flower beds and nothing seemed to work. I got bored one day and thought, "If I scare the hell out of them, they won't come back". I went to the toy store and bought a few jack in the boxes. I ran a wire from the handles in through my bedroom window...then I waited. You have no idea how fast rabbits are until you see them fleeing from a pop up clown and dog! lol

If I were savvier I would have videotaped it and become a YouTube sensation! Word must have gotten out to the rabbit community because my rabbit problems disappeared...

the state park I go to has wooden coyotes up around the docks to keep them away from the people that pay to keep their boats their.....actually seems to work decent.....they stay away from the dock area for the most part
