Ohio State was within one overthrown pass from Miller-to-Posey from upsetting UM in Ann Arbor. This with the worst team OSU's had in a very long time. I certainly don't think Hoke is some legendary head coach in the making. At the same time, I think it's foolish to talk about his overall record as a head coach when highlighting his strengths and weaknesses. Are you submitting that he should have stepped right in at Ball State and San Diego State and won right away? That was never going to happen. A better measuring stick is how were the programs when he left compared to when he took over.

As to the original topic, good job Hoke. A very good idea. (And don't expect that comment to come out of my head very damn often.)
Regarding Hayn's supposition, if I had to guess I'd have to believe (like the OP) that the NCAA approved this program/event ahead of time. They MAY have even counted the time against practice or team time for those 22 kids.
On the topic of Hoke himself, I don't care so much. Nobody at either school (or any school for that matter) would take Hoke over Meyer given that choice. That says all I need to know about Hoke's ability and how OSU fan's should feel about it. If he has success against the various "directional U," MAC, etc. and occasionally gets lucky (OSU and VT last season for example) then good for him. It will make it that much sweeter when the Bucks bitch-slap the joy out of his life each November.
As far as what he calls OSU, I don't give a damn. "TSUN" was good enough for Woody, it's good enough for me and if the best can do is mimic a 50-60 year old jab...I'll let him have it. Besides, we call ourselves "Ohio" plenty and I'm all for him separating himself from our state.

Whether its leadership, for recruiting or a publicity stunt, its a good idea.

As a former Marine I respect the Seals, still doesn't say it was his idea, I don't care how long he has been doing it. I respect some of his staff but I don't respect him
