ND and UM are both excellent schools with long football traditions. UM still holds edge over OSU in football - all time record. ND does have a special aura about it. - especially in Catholic community. And there campus is beautiful. And ND was in the championship just a few weeks ago. I may always root against them but going to ND is a GREAT option for a football player - one that any of us would love for our children to have - as would an opportunity to play for UFM. What wonderful choices that young man has!

You can root for our bucks and still see that to high school students our rivals are also a very attractive option. I may root like hell against them but they provide a young athlete a great opportunity and in some instances even a better fit - depending on their chosen field of study.

    Great post!!!
too bad a majority on this forum don't get it.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Post of the year nomination.

Unfortunately we have a lot of fans that don't see that. Well, a lot of college football fans I should say, not just ours

Is your question serious? Or are you being sarcastic?

    Tough crowd ...
Also, a team's previous year's record is about #5 on the Reason To Go To A School list.

  • He goes to a Catholic shool and N.D. draws them like a magnate. He is the real deal but his school is moving up from 3A to 4 A this year so we will see if he gets the same numbers as last year.

Yeah, the Browns held the all time record over the Steelers until two or three years ago, but I can only remember a couple wins by the Browns in the last 20 years. Games in the 1800's do not give a clear indication of the current landscape.

  • We are stacked at RB so maybe that scares him when it comes to starting but to finish behind Michigan really hurts.

  • I'd love any two of these 3: Hurd, Hood, or Haden.

All three of those kids are so versatile. I mean, they're all H backs! Get it? surrenderlol

  • When i was in high school and playing football I didn't watch nearly as much football as I do now. Games Friday night then Saturday morning workout/ film review until 11 or so, the last thing I wanted to do was come home and watch more football. I was much less of a "fan" when I played, and I'm sure many of these kids are the same way, which makes them a little less likely to choose a school because they're a fan of that school or because choice A beat choice B 10 outta 12 times. ND and UM are both great institutions with rich football traditions, anybody who is surprised that kids like what they have to offer is kidding themselves, they are both worthy adversaries. We're not the only giant on the Midwest block, never have been and never will be at least not for extended periods of time.

  • I appreciate this kid's honesty. He very easily could've just said he liked all the schools and is weighing his options. I'm fine with him liking ND and TSUN more than us. You can't win them all and I'm sure we'll continue to be loaded at tailback for years to come.

Hood's film is unreal. He's big, fast and physical. If we don't land Hurd, I wouldn't be disappointed if we landed Hood.

Agreed. Great video. Runs with great balance and pad level.

I did not "downvote" anyone. Still trying to understand the relevance of such an act.

That said, I was not sarcastic but I will admit I was also a bit cryptic.

Others on the page above have said exactly what I would say on this topic.

Wins and losses on the field and a undefeated record may have some bearing, but if you have followed what many of the "experts" on this site will tell you, it is less relevant than most fans think. Also just above it was outlined pretty well why kids may consider schools like scUM and ND. We may hate them and cheer against them but to assume they have no appeal or OSU is ahead of them on any kids list based upon last year or any years details just seems odd. Thus my comment. I think the details you mentioned have far less to do with recruiting than you may think.

    We'll get Hurd.

While it appears we have a great shot to land him, nothing is guaranteed until next February.

    Great post!

Some buckeye fans do not get it! We all love our Buckeyes, but that type of attitude of "how can we be third..." is what has made us seem like a bunch of idiots to the rest of the nation because it seems we have no common sense. It is like they do not understand that there is a crazed Bama fan or ND fan just like us that and that someone just might like someone else better.
