It would appear that with the players he will be bringing in in his first class that the level of talent will improve. He will be given a couple years to imporove the level of talent and improve the record.
The thing that is bothersome is taht they are getting some good players out of Ohio. It appears that they are outworking the OSU staff or are just better at the game than our staff is. Its a new game and we need to reexamine how we get the good players to come to TOSU.

Unless Hoke somehow quickly builds a Defense, The "northern Region Weasels" are doomed for another crummy year. I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago showing that they have the posibility to lose 7-8 games in 2011. That fact is not past the truth. If they lose to ND and San Diego State, the next 5 games(4 on the road), aganist Northwestern,Mich State, home / Purdue,Iowa and Illinois, and Nebraska and Ohio State they are well on their way. People coming into the B10 from outside to coach must learn about Defense and how it cominates B10 games....you can outscore MAC teams, but must stop dedicated, consistent B10 offenses that grind you down. Michigan does not have that kind of Defense. Robinson can score only so many points and he is also suseptible to getting hurt. My prediction 6-6 at best for scUM. Hold your nose Ann Arbwhore..nothing will have changed!

his defense will be better. Even though they don't have great talent, they won't be running that stupid 3-3-5 or whatever RichRod liked. For that reason alone, they'll be better. However, I don't think their offense will be as explosive. Robinson is great, but he'll be out of his element a little bit running a different offense.

Michigan will be in the hunt for the national title within 3 years. I don't think that they will be able to duplicte the recruiting success next year because they will have far fewer scholarships.
Tosu will be fine as long as they don't panic. Ohio has a better recruiting base than michigan and will get most of the best kids from ohio. Gene Smith has navigated Tosu through this ncaa mess and is now in a position to give Luke a long term deal.
I am looking forward to a renewed series between Tosu and Michigan when the games are the crown jewel of college sports and captures the imaginations of men and boys.

Good coaching and recruiting players that fit your concept of team and scheme are vital to on field success. This notion that because a team is filled with kids that the Tosu never offered a scholarship to is not a rational one. How does tcu, boise state, oregon, wisconsin, iowa, etc remain competitive every season without bringing in national caliber talent on a yearly basis.
Michigan has one of the best offenses in college football. Mattison's defensive scheme will help the defense get better and with the infusion of talent over the next several years, the defense will not be a weak point for the team.
Managing expectations
- If michigan wins 8 or 9 games this year then the perception will be that the program is moving in the right direction under Hoke.
-If TOSU doesn't win 10 games plus then a civil war will break out in buckeye nation.
