And i'll stand by that statement. I'm not saying i don't like having him on our team, i'm not saying he's not a tremendous student athlete. I'm saying he gets too much pub based on being a likeable, hustling, gritty player, and he is viewed by the public as the underdog.
Aaron is not the reason we are getting smeared by Sparty. But if you are going to get the publicity he gets, and analysts are going to state they would take you over any guard in the country, you should be talented enough to make a difference in games like tonight. He doesn't.
I worded it tonight to a buddy in a text better than i have before. "Aaron Craft can't help you win a game you aren't already winning". That sums it up. His records he holds are because of 2 things he is a benefactor of and one thing he actually does really well...
1. A tremendously talented supporting cast in his tenure. He has played with Sullinger, Thomas, Buford, Diebler, and some of the most talented teams we have had in our history. He racks up assists in this system feeding guys like this within the offense.
2. Longevity. He has had 4 years of starting and running an offense with plenty of capable scorers who he simply gets the ball to within the offense (prior to this year). he doesn't create offense for these guys outside of the offense.
3. Defense. This is the area he is a tremendous player. But i believe he's one dimensional. As great as he is defensively, he is equally bad offensively, so in the end we lose in his matchup when we play talented backcourts.
You can downvote me all you want, but i'm not on here to succomb to all things Scarlet and Gray. I like to call a spade a spade and I place myself in an a neutral fans shoes. If i don't have a dog in this fight and i hear all this hype about Craft, i'm underwhelmed by the actual performance.
Proof in the pudding. Crafts #'s in some of our key losses the last few years, and notice most of these are the key games on our schedule

I've been on this site far too long to Troll. Negative Nancy, i might be guilty of. I prefer to call it being a realist.
We're going to miss Craft next year.
We won't miss the daily threads during basketball season about Craft's offensive limitations.
We get it. Craft is great on defense. He's not great on offense.
Give me Aaron Craft any day on my team.
he wouldn't let his players pose in the Playboy All-American magazine edition, he said, "Cause you can't play football with an erection."
The CHASE is on...
Without him on the floor, the team is nearly non-functional on offense and much diminished on defense. He is not a good shooter or a good scorer, but this team is marginally top-twenty without him, at best.
