  • I don't expect SS to hit too many contested shots, but if he starts to consistently knock down those wide open opportunities 50% of the time, as well as continue to push the pace in the face break, then yeah I can go with him being the Buckeyes 3rd best player. His defense has always been solid and if he can finish at the rim and be able to hit the pull up, while handing out the perfect assist in transition, then I think he makes the Buckeyes very dangerous. The Buckeyes become more than a half court team hoping to give DT a decent look at a shot, in order to score.

This... And the game seems to be slowing down for him...

  • Shannon Scott is better than Craft on both ends, in my opinion. Obviously he is better on offense, I doubt anyone is going to debate that, but the kid is an incredible defender too, both on the ball and help side as well. Craft is great on the ball, maybe the best I have ever seen in college, but you don't see him intercepting passes near as often as Scott. His quickness is absurd. In my opinion, he is clearly our 2nd best player and that should be reflected in his playing time.

easy now. Maybe you can make the offensive case. Small sample size there.

Defensively, while he's more athletic, he's not Craft. Guy might win best defensive player in the conference.

  • Craft is good. But a lot is hype from his freshman year. Scott plays just as good off defense. However he makes a greater impact because his defense translates into pushing it down the court into transition upping the tempo unlike Craft. But no question craft is a better in your face defender and for that he will probably win the award

  • Scott is truly an enigma...shows flashes of greatness but can not substain it...great game last night but can he bring the goods in the next...I thought Amir turned the corner against M but my high hopes were quickly dashed...to be honest I expect the same out of Scott...he is not a "carry the team type player" and his true strength is creating for others and the current OSU personnel is not conducive for his game...Scott would be a great fit at Indiana...The current talent level at OSU does not allow Scott to be no. 3...surround him with shooters and an inside presence and it would be lights out...

Yeah his freshmen year diebler, Sully, Buford, DT even Lauderdale were counted on for more production thAn he was. He was way down the list for other teams to game plan for...

Now, by default, he is #2 or so and teams are exploiting his offensive limitations. Love the kid no matter what, won't turn on him or bash cause he is doing the best he can, but I do agree he has limitations offensively..

  • I have also been saying all year that Shannon needs to be running point more often and Craft playing two guard.

Now, obviously Shannon has to get better knocking down shots and finishing around the basket but he is CLEARLY better at breaking down defenses and creating shots for others.

Outside of DT our entire team needs to get better at knocking down shots more consistently but they are capable and if they get MORE chances (via Shannon Scott) then the better they will get.

I am hoping that next year Shannon starts at point and Craft moves to 2 guard full time. They can spell each other if necessary but Craft is a defensive nightmare and if he is not overly bogged down with trying to run the offense then i believe it will make him THAT much better of a defender. It will also give him opportunities to score more and gain more confidence in his jumper.

So what game is this team conducive for? Passing it around the perimeter and waiting for DT to do something?

Shannon should not be, nor Craft, the "carry the team type of player". The point guard needs to run the show and create opportunities for others while taking advantage of scoring opportunites when he gets them.

DT is our "carry the team player".....Shannon creates more opportunities for others....more OPEN opportunities. the more open opportunities these guys get the better they will become.

Amir is the enigma of this team.....not Shannon.

OSU's game is conducive to creating turnovers and scoring in transistion...Scott is at his best playing uptempo, using his quickness and creating for others. Against good teams that don't turn the ball over he is netrualized. His poor shooting skills and ineffectiveness to finish at the basket becomes a liability...OSU's half court offense is painful to watch. Why do you think it's very difficult for them to get good looks? No inside presence with poor perimeter shooting is not a good combination. OSU is very easy to defend. Unfortunately they only need to focus on DT...
