Yes, there is no question that if gas was at $2 a gallon, this would be a completely different economy and a healthy one at that. About a year and a half ago, I took an economics class and the term paper for the class was "what was the cause of the recession". I wrote my paper on the price of a barrel of oil and as I looked further into it, I became more and more convinced that this is the problem. Previous spikes in oil have caused recessions and when the price of oil reaches a certain percentage of our GDP, it causes a recession. There is no doubt in my mind that the price of a barrel of oil has caused this recession and everything else such as the housing crises are a symptom of the rise in oil.

More money in the consumers pockets enables the consumer to spend it on other things...economy wouldn't necessarily boom per se....but it sure as hell wouldn't hurt.

Think of what the high gas prices have done to the price of commodities? Christ, I paid over $6 for a jar of my favortie peanut butter when that shit was $3 a few years back for the same damn jar...smh...

I guess I would put it this way...he is fundamentally changing the country. Decide for yourself if that's a good thing. I for one do not think so. In fact, it scares me to death to see what we are being transformed into.
