Is The Push On Now For Trubisky?

The Bucks have a commitment from the country’s No. 1 dual-threat QB JT Barrett. Will they now make their push for Mitch Trubisky who attended the OSU spring game Saturday?

Always borrow money from a pessimist; he won't expect it back.

  • That video is short but he at least "looks" like a QB when he is back there. Looks very natural, nice footwork, good accuracy. It'd be nice to have a QB come in that doesn't need to learn QB mechanics. I'm not saying i dont like the TP's and the braxton miller's, it would just be nice to have a guy come in that was already pretty polished.

  • You would know how?

  • I would be interested in why we are not recruiting Chapman. It would seem he might be a better fit for our offense than this young man. I do however respect Urban and Staff know far much more than I. I was just wondering.

  • Frankly, I think that we NEED Trubisky. QB competition is imperative. In fact, I think that we did TP a disservice by not having a quality QB pushing him even more. Every top program has at least 2 top notch QBs competing for the job and we can only count on Braxton staying thru his junior year.

I think the competition level is pretty high. Cardale has said many times he doesn't want to redshirt because he wants to compete for that starting job. Kenny Guiton looked great in the Spring game and in practice has improved a lot!

There's plenty of competition, in my opinion. The only reason I see them taking Trubisky is for balance in the styles of QB's that they have.

  • Trubisky is the 2nd QB I'd like over anyone else... I just think he has all those intangibles needed to become a bigtime winner. I think he can run just as well Guiton so if you are ok with Guiton's running ability then you will be fine with this kids ability to run, and he throws the ball better imo. Let him battle JT for the spot. Competition breeds greatness!

  • Good choice. Very polished. Will not be buying tatoos. We will have 5 options at QB and who can complain about that. IMO he is the most ready of all of them to read defenses. Opposing coaches have talked about this already. Will be either a great starter or a super sub like Joe Germaine was his first two years...

  • I'm puzzled by Jones not even playing one lone series on Saturday. What could be the reasoning behind not being able to find any snaps for really the only other qb on the roster besides the two that started the scrimmage? I have a hard time believing Jones has already burnt bridges with big boss Urb already in his short stint at tOSU. It was a message of some kind to be sure. Step up your game or perhaps more realistically, "don't let the door hit you on the way out", i.e. transfer son. I'm of the opinion that all scholarship players who participated in Spring drills and are eligible should play at least a series/several snaps in a scrimmage setting.

  • jones has been on campus a few months, what's his hurry. we have to get the top two ready for the fall.
jones needs to chill big time or move on. sick of reading the crybaby tweets from players.

  • Would be good to get this kid especially if cordale jones doesn't pan out.

  • I'm really not sure if it was my decision if I would take another QB this year but if I did the guy I'd pick would probably be Trubisky. Above all else he is very intelligent, capable of digesting all of Meyer's playbook. He just has a poise & confidence about him that I like also. Accuracy wise, he looks better than all the others that we offered this year. He consistently hits his receivers in full stride and understands how to place the ball away from defenders and give his receivers the best opportunity to catch it.
While not as elusive as Barrett he is above average speed & mobility wise.
He looks like he has average arm strength but then again Joe Montana didn't have a cannon either and he turned out to be pretty good.

  • Sometimes that 2nd guy ends up being THE guy..i.e. Troy Smith.

Thrilled to have JTB... I think Trubisky will end up being a good college qb, too.

I don't know how I feel about 2 qb's in the same class...I know we want the qb from Kentucky in the 2014 class.

Perhaps he hasn't yet been able to grasp the playbook. Maybe he hasn't adjusted to the speed of the defense. He is very raw. There is no reason to play a guy who hasn't adjusted to in house scrimmages and drills. The Spring Game this year was designed to establish the 2 deep, and to get reps for the inexperienced who are already in the 2 deep with certainty...that's the QB position for this team.

  • The appeal is the kid is smart and plays smart. Heard on here before he runs the offense as almost another coach on the field. Makes a difference if you run a no huddle offense like OSU is wokring on now!
