There's plenty of competition, in my opinion. The only reason I see them taking Trubisky is for balance in the styles of QB's that they have.

First of all -- we don't know what the coaches know about Cardale Jones, but for them not to even give him one snap is telling. I don't think that anyone is writing him off but he may not be what they are looking for in this offense.
Kenny G is already a junior and will only 1 more year after this so you need to keep filling the funnel with quality players at the QB position like USC is doing. If Meyer feels they have the scholarships to do it, or if he knows there is some more attrition coming that will free more schollies... I don't know but I'm sure we can trust him on that.

Find it interesting that so many on here know more than the coaches about team needs... I assume that if the coaches say they need 2 QBs in this class, then it is a priority.

Meyer seems to really like this kid in that he has Tebow like qualities that are inescapable and he feels has the skills and persona to run Meyer's version of the spread. Meyer has pursued him from the time he arrived on campus. Unlike the other candidates, his passing abilities are not in question. He could give J.T. a real run for his money for Braxton's back up and successor. I hope we get him!

Frankly, I think that we NEED Trubisky. QB competition is imperative. In fact, I think that we did TP a disservice by not having a quality QB pushing him even more. Every top program has at least 2 top notch QBs competing for the job and we can only count on Braxton staying thru his junior year.

Couldn't agree more. I like the idea of taking QBs in pairs and letting the one that loses transfer out. The position is too important to leave to chance with depth. You must have a quality backup in case of injury (especially since Barrett runs).

It'd be nice to have a QB come in that doesn't need to learn QB mechanics. I tend to agree with this... unless he improves by light years between now and August, he's still far from being ready to make a leap after two more football seasons. IMHO, he can use every snap he can get in college to prepare him for the NFL.
