Jamal Marcus has been moved to DE

I'm sure this is the "Viper" role. Marcus is a physical freak, and in sure he's put on 15 or so more LBs since the season. He'll probably be around 255-260 by season

Does Marcus have the frame to hold the type of weight a DE needs to have and the ability to maintain his speed? Just curious. I didn't think he was a big-framed kid.

Official roster as of today has him at 6'2, 230lbs...not sure if this is accurate but if so he will need to gain some weight. It will be interesting to see his weight come the fall.

  • The problem with what a lot of people are saying is that vrabel doesn't rotate his DL a lot. I would love to see Marcus murdering QBs, but even as the number 2, he may not get as much time as backup DL under heacock.

Maybe Vrabel just didn't have faith in the other DL last year. That's why he only played the same 4-5 players

Hope your right man, I thought some BHs said it was because of his nfl roots and the fact that you don't rotate as much in the league.

  • if I remember correctly SEC had pretty good success turning safeties into linebackers and linebackers into DE's. It is all about speed off the edge. May need to give up a little size to accomplish that.

  • This news is right in-line with the chatter, of seeing more of a 3-4 alignment... using jamal marcus in a terrell suggs, james harrison, von miller type package would be a absolute stroke of genius! I would think he would be used less in space, and more toward flat out rushing the passer!

    Man, what a bummer.

I hope it helps him but with our defensive end talent in place and whats coming in; he could be on his way outta here.

What would make you think that? It's called a rotation, or depth.

Over Spence or Washington who is his same year?

Better then Tyquan, Pittman? Bosa? What about the upper class men?

I suppose he could. We do rotate a lot but I don't ever see him being a starter here.

He'd be WSDE. Washington is SSDE. Same with Bosa, and Pittman is gone.

Remember his tape, he was lighting fast. So you could see a rotation of him and Spence. That's some blazing speed off the edge. Plus think how they like to drop the end in coverage randomly.
