OP. I agree with what you're trying to get across, it would be a great thing if people were able to use the PSU scandal as inspiration to help kids that need it. However, I think that people will take your post as telling people not to attack Sandusky on the board.....Maybe at least it will help everyday people be more aware of the signs of abuse and help them be able to identify and take theright steps to stop it. (Hopefully without a witch-hunt mentality)
BTW, thanks for doing the kind of work that you do. I know that it must come with baggage in addition to the rewards.

Yeah....I see what you mean. I say have at Sandusky, but keep in mind that alot of these men that do this were first victims themselves. One of my closest friends was abused in a sex ring in Pataskala (story was in the Dispatch many years ago actually) where his own parents sold him for drugs. He was systematically abused at 4,5, and 6 and watched his own sister murdered during that time. It messed him up really bad. He questioned his sexuality (not making a statement about whether it is genetics or not...just saying that is his view) and later through a series of relationships with people on the wrong side of the tracks was drugged, raped, and purposely given HIV. After struggling with drugs / alcohol and many other things he got his life together and realized the only way to change things was to get involved. He was on the speaking circuit for Children's Hospital at benefits etc. and started going to prisons to speak to men such as Jerry Sandusky and help them realize what their victims suffered. He is the one that scolded me one time for putting my anger and frustration towards people like Sandusky. He realizes he is lucky not to have become a Sandusky...while one of his brothers has....it's just a pattern of total brokenness. The dude I know is totally healthy, but refuses to be with any kids alone because of his past....which is a testimony to the fact he "gets it". So I just know that this is a story that has many sides. That doesn't mean that Jerry doesn't deserve what he gets, but when you are raped or abused as a child it has lasting and deep impact through your adulthood. Turning 18 or "becoming a man" doesn't change that.....it is intense from what I've seen. Again...I have no idea where Sandusky has come from, but that is my point....none of us do. It doesn't excuse what he did....but it does give a possible explanation that we might want to note. Doesn't mean he should be behind bars....we have to protect the innocent....just means this whole thing is a sad repetitive disease.
