  • Even if he does commit to Pitt, I haave to think Urban stays on him for a possible flip later when the season starts and he see 100,000 in the shoe...

  • Don't think it is going to happen...but, he is a MUST get! Pull all of our coaches off recruiting LBs and D-linemen and get this guy :-)

The Big East was bad, and its getting worse. WVU left and Louisville is close to leaving and to date they have added mighty Temple, and it sounds like Buffalo will join Boise State and few other stiffs from lesser conferences as well. The Big Ten got a lot tougher adding Nebraska, and a Big Ten title game. Pitt and the Big East will get dominated by Boise State. Outside of the early lead team, you would think proven winner Meyer over unproven coach from Wisconsin, and the Big Ten preparing you for the next level over a crap pile Big East would be a no brainer. Lets hope he comes to Friday night lights and Urban keeps working Johnson.

all valid points, only exception (I read about this kid) is Pitt is in his backyard and he doesn't want to leave home.....he must not have a desire to give his folks a ring.

  • It seems a kid like this, relationships are a major factor. A longer term stronger relationship might overcome the desire to play for the home school. In these cases, our staff has not had enough time to build those relationships. We get kids where relationship building is not that important. We are missing on kids where it is.

There will be enough time to work these type of kids in the 2014 class. We all knew this would probably be a 2-3 year deal. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

    This, 110% true.
Kids like Knox, Mustipher, Jones and Brown all have 2014 OSU offers and are camping at OSU this summer and building relations. Knox just had an article, he is a die hard life long Buckeye, he cannot wait to get up here and cannot wait to see what OSU does with Meyer. Damian Prince is another big OT with an OSU offer OOS and he will visit OSU this summer.
Byrne has an OSU offer, and we are in good shape there, he is camping this weekend. Richardson from Westerville probably gets his OSU offer in time and is a Buckeye.
We will land a heck of an OL class in 2014.

Several camping recruits last week said OSU would like to bring in 3 more OL besides Lisle, they will be selective and get those right, considering the heck of the haul of OL we landed with Boren (getting raves from Meyer and staff), Decker, Dodson, O'Connor and Elflein (got to love a multple wresting champ). All of these early 2013 OL commits, a few will decommit, it always happen. A kid like Marcel Lazard, still think OSU could steal him back if WVU looks like cannon fodder in the Big 12.
One Ohio kid I think that will get an offer, OT/OG Miller from Toledo, at 6'5" and 270, he is athletic and can run just like Meyer wants. Just fill out 2013 with the best OL you can get, the foundations being laid for 2014 OL is big time.
For 2013 it is early, I would still not rule out 1/2 JUCO/PREP OL, teams like Bama, USC, FSU, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon and others took those type OL last year, and Bama landed one last week for 2013.

  • I think it is all about momentum and Perception. Once O line folks see the explosiveness and quickness of our offense for a couple years I firmly believe we will have a much sexier product to sell. the perception at the moment of osu is that we are a slow moving behemoth and who wants to be part of that? Once we put numbers and have a dynamic offense the days of fretting over oline recruits are over.

  • Hope I am wrong but it seems to me this kids mind is basically made up to stay home at PITT. I have said this before but staying close to home is major factor for alot of kids and for those type of kids this supercedes any comparison you make between two schools. You can't always just say well you can win championships in Columbus and it is better program because for some kids the comforts of home are a bigger selling point and this does not mean they are afraid to compete either, it's just personal preference.

  • losing f'n sucks. I think most kids hate it. why submit yourself to four years of the shit and accomplishing nothing. if you are a great lineman you will get paid on sunday regardless . urb has lineman in the pro's.

I am confused is this kid like pittsburg since birth or something. Osu and pitt aren't even in the same galaxy. And if those coaches do good there at pitt they will get offered a bigger school job.

Is warriner not a beast or something. Not sure with the class we have so far why lineman aren't geeked about the bucks. Plus our depth...it makes no sense, we have the most bcs bowl appearances, played for 3 national titles since 2000, put guys in the league and have urban meyer at the helm, not to mention a freakin boat load of tradition and bucknut nation!

I feel ya man, thinking the same thang. Maybe it's the spread scheme scaring OLmen away > not popular for moving on to the NFL.

  • I have a question, who was the last Pitt coach not named Wannstedt(i.e. Pitt alum) to stay there for more than 2 seasons? Compounded by the fact that they play in an NFL city and stadium in the most anonymous BCS football conference in the country. Close to home or not, this should be a no brainer for Johnson. Even if he doesn't choose tOSU.

So we shouldn't even try to get an elite top OT because you know he's going to Pitt for a fact? That's a defeatist attitude, Meyer and Warinner will go after who ever they want. You never know what can happen if you try!

  • Pitt isn’t on the same level as the Bucks, on that everyone can agree, however, Pitt has a long and storied past as well.

NFL rosters are populated by many former Pitt players, to include some of the very best the NFL has to offer.

Hopefully the young man comes to the motherland to play in the shoe, but Pitt isn’t chopped liver.

  • what i will say which seems nice, his twitter page is all OSU right now. i dont know if this is just a matter of timing since he just came off his visit or not but seeing as how he is so pro OSU right now maybe he will delay his decision and come to FNL
