Just a quick thought on Braxton

  • watching the scrimmage, I can't believe how much better he is throwing the ball. Last year, he consistently threw a wobbly, loose spiral. I don't know what Hermann and Meyer have changed mechanically, but he was tossing crisp, tight spirals in the spring game. He looked good.

    That's it.

  • He was soooo much better, I agree. Since he wasn't able to run, most of his incompletions were because he just tried to force it (because he has no other choice). He is so improved its scary. I can't wait for this season.

  • I'm one that believes as good as Braxton looked yesterday, had more to do with the new offense suiting his skill set than him suddenly discovering how to play QB. I saw him play in high school several times and it was like a flashback, he looked just as confident yesterday as he did then. Good to see the coaching staff taking advantage of what he does best.

  • I agree, he looked much better. Most of it is likely a result of his improved footwork (which still has a bit to go). Kenny G really impressed as well. Very happy for him. Cardale just needs to keep busting his butt because JT is gonna be on his heels next season as well.

Yep, some plp forget braxton was a true frosh last year, I think he was more scared in the pocket hence the anti-spirals & overthrows. Not to take anything from Herman, but some of yall need to stop throwing salt on the old staff( to original post). Herman is not a magician, but braxton has a ton of games under his belt now, plus offseason & an offense that suits his skill set. He can throw the short passes, something TP will never be able to do.

  • wasn't he quoted as saying he throws 70+ balls a day in practice. It shows. Not so many passes off his back foot

Theres no two ways around it, the old staff did not use TP right at all... And without tressel they were worse at using braxton... Think about this for a second... Imagine if Urban would have landed Pryor at Florida in 09'. He would have won another two championships with him... TP had no real natural skill at being a QB at all. The staff should have adapted to that like Michigan has done with Denard and just let him play to his skill...

Herman and Meyer are going to be lightyears better on offense than Tressel and his cronies
