  • Maybe its time for coach Foster to hang um up. PSU tonight just toyed with us. The program going down hill fast and needs new blood. Thanks coach Foster enjoy retirement!

  • That was an all-around painful game to watch. Women's basketball in general is not very entertaining to me.....BAD women's basketball is excruciating.

  • they got totally outplayed tonight, gone downhill fast and still can tie for regular season championship and most likely be a top 15 team after losing the best player since katie, amazing, now the next slam will be the lack of living up to their seeding, before you bring that one you better check thad's tourney losses

Yeah Foster sucks. 23-4 this year with wins at Cal and Oklahoma; 6 out of the last 7 B1G regular season championships, the last 3 B1G tournament championships. He wins with bigs, he wins with guards.

Now you can complain about the lack of production in the NCAA tournament and the failure to sign the best players in Ohio, but a bad loss on the road to the top team in the league does not rate this kind of response.

  • While Foster has had a good year, the effort last night at Happy Valley was embarassing for a Buckeye to watch on National TV......I have seen less "bricked" shots on a 6th grade traveling team. Its hard to understand how a team can perform really well one game and the next game look like a. neighborhood pick up team. I know we are better than that. Its frusturating to watch women play Basketball in the first place, and when it gets that bad, it just down right embarassing for the university. Nuff said by me, I just can't understand things like that when you appear to be a good team, and play like a"suck" team.

Has Foster been to a final 4 like Thad?

  • Did I say Foster sucks? I just think sometimes in coaching at the same school for so long things can get a little stale and it could be time to change. How do you like our prospects for next year? Back to the top of a bad big10 or just middle of the pack?

I can't tell if you were describing the men's team at scUM Saturday or the womens team....

  • Sometimes Buckeye fans make me wonder if the all are from Philly.

  • i think its the '14 class where the top player in the country is from OH, and 4 of the top 20 overall are from OH. what happens with the #1 player and the others will tell you a lot about foster and where he has osu as a program

This is not a pro baseball team where the same players are with the same team year after year after year. There is enough turn over in 4 years, and players have different roles in each of their 4 years, that the coach/player relationships do not generally grow stale in college ball.

No doubt you are too young to have heard this criticism about Woody. In 68-69 the Super Sophs (Rex Kern, Jack Tatum, etc.) won the National Championship, but could not repeat in 69-70 or 70-71. Some said that as juniors and seniors they had already seen all Woody's antics and no longer feared him. Personally, I think it had more to do with that little bit luck (along with being good) that you need to win the NC.

  • sorry been out of touch for a day due to work, answer is no

has thad won i believe seven championships?

will say that one of foster's losses to a lower seed was on the lower seeds home court, thad hasn't had that bs happen

has thad ever adjusted his offensive style? answer resounding hell no, foster did this year and has had a pretty good year

Actually yes, in 1993. Coincidentally the same year the Lady Bucks last went.

    SixThirty

  • Was Foster coach then? I dont think so.

    jeffbucs

  • Oops I think I know what you mean.

  • The man has lost touch with big-time recruits. The best in Ohio tend to leave the state for top 5 programs. Currently OSU has no 2012-13 recruits rated in the top 100 nationally. Instead, we get the 2 and 3-star leftovers. you can't compete with the UConn's of the nation with these types of recruiting classes.

  • Tonight, Samantha Prahalis plays her last home game for the Bucke She is destined to become the Big Ten's all-time leader in assists and will go down as one of the greatest point guards in the history of women's basketball. Samantha always gives all-out effort at both ends of the court and is one of the fiercest competitors ever to attend Ohio State.

    Congratulations, Samantha!

Some have asked about recommendations for the next women's coach at Ohio State.
One man's resume stands out among all others.

First, before I give you the name, let's consider what Ohio State needs in their next coach. They need a dynamic young man or woman who has proven him/herself with a winning record with outstanding character and personality and who can regularly successfully RECRUIT TOP 25 PLAYERS.

    Presently, Ohio State has, among its coaches, several of note who are in their young to mid 40's and are examples of the type of coach needed. Examples are: Thad Matta, Men's basketball; Urban Meyer, Football; Tom Ryan, Wrestling;
Greg Beals, Baseball; Mark Osiecki, Men's Hockey; Geoff Carlston, Women's Volleyball.

There is one truly OUTSTANDING candidate who could fill the bill in all areas cited for Women's Basketball.

His name is Matt Bollant, current Head Coach at Wisconsin Green Bay. The prior coach at Green Bay was Kevin Borseth, currently Head Coach at Michigan. Kevin's record at Green Bay was 216-62 for a 78% winning percentage.
Matt's record at Green Bay is 145-18 for an 89% winning record. In the 2010-11 season, Green Bay became only the third team in the history of the NCAA tournament to enter the tournament with at least 32 wins. The other two teams, incidentally, are Connecticut and Tennessee.

Last year, Matt was 4-0 against Big Ten teams, led Green Bay for the first time in history to the Sweet 16, beat a 4th seed (Michigan State) in the NCAA, and lost to Baylor by 10 points (Baylor currently is the unanimous #1 team in the nation.)
Green Bay finished 9th in the country last year.

Matt is 40 years old and has already been named the Kay Yow National Coach of the Year. His character and personality are outstanding, and his girls have had outstanding academic records wherever he has coached.

Someone will snap up Matt before long. Ohio State needs to put him on the staff NOW in some capacity. Hopefully, he can be thoroughly considered for the Ohio State Head Coaching job someday.
