Lance Armstrong to Admit To Doping

  • Was watching the Butler/Dayton game on NBC sports today, they had a special update saying that Lance Armstrong will admit to doping on Monday. I feel like they said he's doing on Oprah's show. May have been one of the other show's. Wasn't really paying attention b/c I have zero interest in cycling.

    Did anybody else see this?

If he does, I lose all respect since he has vehemently denied these allegations for years. Sponsors should demand their money back.

Doesn't matter if he admits it, the proof is in the report. It is overwhelming and undeniable if you read it. So I'm assuming he just wants to get it off his chest and tell us what we already have known for months.

The sponsors made a shit load of money off of his live strong campaign. It's not one sided

My point is cheaters shouldn't be rewarded. Would the sponsors have used him if they knew he was a fraud? doubt it. Why u think they r dropping him like flies? Sure they gain from the notoriety, but it should be legit.

  • Sponsors may know it but don't care unless he's caught. I had European teammates who knew it 7 years ago.

he wouldn't let his players pose in the Playboy All-American magazine edition, he said, "Cause you can't play football with an erection."

  • That fucking pussy cried "witch hunt" for years. Spent so many tax payer dollars on his trial. Publicly and permanently defamed multiple good persons through suit. He was also awarded quite a bit of money for his troubles in the process. If you feel bad for this coward you need to take a look in the mirror.

  • Why should tax payers be paying for his, Clemens, or bonds' trials to begin with? This money should he spent on reducing the deficit or at least buying more cell phones for obamas welfare recipients.

You may not like what he did or how he did it, and I assume that calling him a "fucking pussy" is just your way of voicing disapproval.

The sanctimonious style and attitude really does rub most of us the wrong way. Remind you of a famous football coach as you unwind the bullshit behavior and coddling of Terrell Pryor, et. al.?

That "fucking pussy" trained harder for more years than any of his peers, and that means harder than all but a micro-percentage of the human species. There was no mentally or physically tougher pro cyclist than Lance. None of his peers would call him a "pussy". They would call him a bully, liar, etc., and they would be right. That would also be the pot calling the kettle "black".

90%+ of the riders in TdF peleton in those years used PEDs during their cycling seasons. LA didn't invent the cycling PED, but he sure did use it to full advantage. Pro cycling is cutthroat. Has been for decades.

"Pussies" don't make it in that world.

I worked for Oakley Inc. for several years and can tell you for a fact Oakley will never request he pay them back. Lance and Jim Are very tight and the money he made for Oakley all those years is x's a billion compared to what his contract paid him. He was one of the leading forces in puffing Oakley sunglasses in the spotlight early on. Oakley even came out with Lances own line 6 or so yeArs ago.

  • Its bicycling. Its about as much of a sport as running on my treadmill is. I could care less if Armstrong "doped" in a sport riddled with doping. Sounds like it was an even playing field. So good ole Lance is still the king. These whiny crybabies are just pissed because they cheated and lost.

When you next run a 2100 mile race with 50,000+ feet of climbing on your treadmill maybe you can speak with some credibility about what is and is not a sport.

Ugh, he's go on Oprah for this? That's the saddest part of this entire thing, imo . . . The word "sport" is defined by one source as follows, "An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others."

I think you may have misinterpretted Hill's gist, but yes, sounds like a sport to me as well . . . and doing the training will only help someone understand how difficult and impressive it is to complete the TDF, Ironman, etc.

. . . effing, ehh, though - Oprah? Really? Every move he, or any brand that is worth something, makes is for a financially related cause. I suppose that her show probably reaches the highest numbers of malleable sympathizers (for his tearful confession) who will buy whatever she markets. Who knows. The guy loses me, so to speak, more for picking this forum than for doping, itself.

Actually the Livestrong Foundation gives absolutely nothing to cancer research. 100% of their money is devoted to CURRENT cancer patients and recent survivors. Both are very good causes, but just wanted to clarify Livestrong is devoted to cancer patient advocacy, support, etc, not research.

    +1

He did face quite a dilemma. Cheat like ALL the other contenders of his day and attain fame and fortune or play by the literal rules and watch inferior cyclists finish ahead of you in the money positions.

Having said that his behavior to maintain the charade may be worse than the doping itself.
