Lance Armstrong to Admit To Doping

  • Gobucks187TTUN said...

Its bicycling. Its about as much of a sport as running on my treadmill is. I could care less if Armstrong "doped" in a sport riddled with doping. Sounds like it was an even playing field. So good ole Lance is still the king. These whiny crybabies are just pissed because they cheated and lost.

As a cyclist and racer GB, you couldn't be further from the truth here. Cycling is the toughest sport on the planet...these burn 10,000 calories/day for 21 days out of 24. Many have died and many are so beaten up by the end, they can't walk for a few days...so I hasten to be a bit more careful when you "it's about as much of a sport as running your treadmill"...you have no clue.

  • I agree with you. What he accomplished in those mountain stages was legendary to say the least and when you consider that every other guy also was cheating to kr it's a moot point. Just like bonds and McGuire they far outpaced the other guys most years in an era when probably 8 out of 10 power hitters we're juicing.

Speak of that I'm also proud of what griffey jr was able to do in his career and of he didn't get injured so much later in His career would've set all of the he records out of reach.

  • I heard it on 97.1 here in Detroit, The interView airs on the Oprah Winfrey Network..guess it's called OWN this Thursday 17th.. It must've been taped today. Allegedly he told Op that she could go anywhere she wanted with any kinds of questions.

The radio guys were taking bets..Will Lance "CRY"

The overwhelming response was...Lance will pause, sigh, lip quiver bit not actually SOB!!

When you next run a 2100 mile race with 50,000+ feet of climbing on your treadmill maybe you can speak with some credibility about what is and is not a sport.

I imagine if you offered people enough money to do it then you would see people doing it. And if they didn't pay those bicyclers to do that then they wouldn't be out there doing it for fun.

My credibility is fine. Doesn't take talent to ride a bike. We teach 5 year olds to do it. Whoopity Doo.

Edit: Nevermind. I'm just trolling. Changed my mind about continuing it. I think Dhill was going to blow a gasket. LOL

    Horse racing is a "sport"
    Archery is a "sport"
    Consider this, oh wise one...

    Rodeo is a "sport"
    Badmitton is a "sport"
    Ping Pong is a "sport"
    Golf is a "sport"
    Fishing is a "sport"
    Target shooting is a "sport"
    Bowling is a"sport"
    Skiing is a "sport"

The last one is analogous to cycling....wear some odd clothes, strap yourself to some mechanical device, slide down a hill. What could be easier?

We teach 5-year olds to do it.

  • I'm still trying to reconcile why he picked fatass Oprah and her fatass audience that knows little about sport or exercise as his forum. Utterly shameful in that, it seems to me, the only logical reason is that her purse is the thickest. She probably paid handsomely for it.

I haven't been listening much to the coverage, but are any of the other media outlets questioning this decision? Was she the highest bidder? If so, did LA pocket the dough? I don't suppose much is being released from either LA's or Oprah's group regarding this part of this deal.

He doesn't need money. He is worth 100 million dollars.

I'm thinking it has something to do with his charity. That is the only thing that makes sense. Here you got a guy who has sued people for saying this stuff. The report (all 20 pages of it) doesn't have a smoking gun. Then you got the word of admitted cheaters which ruins their credibility. Sounds like sour grapes or payback for them doping and STILL losing. If Armstrong wanted to fight this he could and would win. So why the turn around? He isn't even cycling anymore so any punishment is moot.

I worked for Oakley Inc. for several years and can tell you for a fact Oakley will never request he pay them back. Lance and Jim Are very tight and the money he made for Oakley all those years is x's a billion compared to what his contract paid him. He was one of the leading forces in puffing Oakley sunglasses in the spotlight early on. Oakley even came out with Lances own line 6 or so yeArs ago.

So if you think former sponsors aren't going after him, Fox news just reported that sponsors are lining up to get paid back, including the Feds since the U.S Postal Service was a sponsor. Me thinks he's in deep doo doo.
