Lebron

  • I know a bunch of people are going to jump down my throat, but I think Lebron at this moment is the best basketball player I have ever seen. Never saw Oscar, but he sounds incredible. Lebron is just unstoppable. Bigger, faster, stronger. His shot has become much better, and his field goal percentage for the past 5 games or so is around 70. He rebounds and assists as well as anyone, and is a tremendous passer. I have never been more impressed with any player.

  • I still can't bring myself to like that son of a bitch for leaving my Cavs but I'm willing to forgive and forget if he comes back and wins Cleveland a couple titles. +1

I think this is spot on. I think LBJ can be top five, is much better than Kobe EVER was and this year he's having is as good as anyone's ever, but the 2011 Finals meltdown pretty much excludes him from GOAT starus

I think the most accurate term to describe him would be "most talented" player ever... He can do more things offensively than probably anyone, ever... And his defense, his supposed weakness his first several years, is as good as any in the league... The combination of those, then adding in his basketball IQ, makes him the most talented ever....
Having said that, though, I'll bet if you asked 100 people between the ages of 36 and 50, all of which have been avid NBA fans during that timeframe, ask them if they could choose 1 player from that era, and could have that player at his peak, Michael Jordan would be the overwhelming choice... Jordan was an absolute assassin, on both ends of the floor, and his competitive drive was/is, second to none... Now, fast forward 5 years and lebron has 3 or 4 or 5 championships? Well, lets just say there will be a debate

  • As great as Oscar was, he was not nearly as big , strong , nor athletic as Lebron. He was big at 6'5" for a guard [in that era], smooth and always under control. One of my favorite players of all time in the pros. but not while he was at Cinci beating the Buckeyes

Good days, bad days --- always a Buckeye. Time to begin the assault on the 2013 BCS National Championship

  • Michael Jordan, no debate. Lebron is great, but he isn't must see TV. Jordan wanted to destroy everyone on the court every single game and it was just awesome to watch. I dont get that sense from LBJ ever really.

  • People who make cases for Lebron really under-estimate how great Jordan was.

Lebron is beyond amazing but it's Jordan we're talking about. Jordan is the best scorer ever by far, a top 5 perimeter defender ever, and he raised his game in the playoffs every year. Look at his NBA finals stats. Lebron has grown up big time but hasn't always been the killer he is now.

It will be fun to watch how close he can get. There is a 24 year old who is pretty amazing too.

  • I thought Artest (sorry...World-Peace) was a pretty big dude. I was watching the game today and Lebron made him look puny!! LBJ looked almost twice as big and twice as fast. It was a total mismatch.

    Go Buckeyes!!

I was around for Jordan. This greatest ever stuff is over blown. Look at his stats, his shooting percentage was not as impressive as one would think. Especially his 3 ball. What part of his game was better than Lebron? Lebron is faster, bigger, stronger, and will stat Jordan to death in the end. I think Jordan was great, but the stats in the end won't lie. Lebron is just at an incredible level right now. Shooting almost 70 percent is just crazy.

its easy to shoot 70% when you have 10 dunks or lay ups every game. Nobody punishes LeBron like they did when Jordan played. Charles Oakley would have had a hayday getting in LeBron's head. Jordan was better at winning... he didnt have to team up with other superstars to do it.

the most ridiculous post i've seen in a while. jordan's skill and will to win carried the bulls to 6 championships. when he did lose he didn't make excuses. as stated before, jordan didn't have to get traded to another team with other establaished strars to win a championship. SMH loco

30 PPG for his career as a 50% shooter which includes his Wizards years, not impressive lmfao. Lebron is 27.5 on 49%. 33.4 to 28.5 in the postseason and didn't choke in 2 finals like Lebron.

35 PPG on 54% is a lot more impressive than 27 on 56% and who gives a shit about a 5 game stretch.

Lebron isn't close to MJ as a scorer and he doesn't have 1/5 the playoff resume.

  • 36, 33, 28, 29, 30, 39, 39, 26, 32, 46, 33, 31, 42, 44, 55, 41, 33, 28, 29, 36, 23, 26, 22, 31, 38, 26, 22, 38, 39, 33, 37, 24, 34, 28, 45.

6-0. But of course never did anything as impressive as this 5 game stretch.

The kind of basketball Lebron has been playing of late is better than anything I've ever seen. He's unstoppable most of the time and his amazing string of accuracy is far from just lay ups. He can do pretty much anything at every position on the court. He may or may not be the best ever but I'd take him the way he's playing right now before anybody else. And I'm a jilted Cavs fan.

Dumb. Many forget that the nba was much more of a "basketball" game when Jordan played. The NBA now is phenomenal athletes running up and down the court.

No, he simply waited until Larry and Magic got old. Larry Bird's Celtics owned Jordan's Bulls. Does that mean Larry was better? I mean Larry dominated him in wins. I predict that you will say that it is a team game, and MJ had the lesser team. I agree, but you can't have it both ways. Lebron would own MJ going to the basket, rebounding, assists, etc. scoring is the only one that would be close. Look at MJs body, and then look at Lebron's. No match. Check out MJs 3 point shooting percentage his first 8 years, not great. In the end Lebron will out stat MJ. He is the far more well rounded player.

MJ was a great player, but if Lebron keeps this up, there will be no comparison. Now, can he keep this up? I don't know, but he seems to get better every year, and I think he hasn't hit his prime yet.

Compare Jordan to Lebron at the same age, and it is very close.

  • Agreed. LeBron is bigger, stronger, faster, a better passer and now a better perimeter shooter. Clearly he's a far better ball-handler and can defend the post and the point (he did both in the NBA Finals while earning finals MVP honors).
There is nothing, absolutely nothing Jordan could do that LeBron can't do better. And I'd like to kick the SOB in the nuts for stiffing the Cavs.
Compare them both when each is 28 and not a GM in the NBA would take Jordan over LeBron. if you're only argument is 6 titles, that's beyond stupid. Who is to say LeBron doesn't win the next six titles and eclipse him.
Besides, I can easily make the argument the only reason Jordan got six titles was because Bird suffered back problems and Magic got HIV. Before those two things happened, MJ couldn't beat either of them.
Finally, if you're using the titles argument, than Bill Russell is your guy, Jordan didn't come close to his 11 titles.
