Before I sign off of BN, I just have these few thoughts:

It’s a real shame there is a "vocal minority" on this board who feel they own it and they amount to nothing more than bullies who haven't seemed to graduate the 8th grade, and as a result, it ruins the user experience for other fans of both the Buckeyes and 247sports.com. I’ve spent the past year and a half on this site with my son and with my father who are all just as passionate a Buckeye fan as you are.

My thoughts on MattC:

I think we would all agree he's a Buckeye and a younger Buckeye as well. I think we would all agree that he doesn’t yet know how to fully conduct himself on a board like this. So, when he sees personal attacks and personal insults, why are you surprised when he responds in-kind? What did you expect?

It’s one thing to have a little fun with the kid or other posters, for that matter. But, the so-called adults that blasted him every day should be ashamed of themselves. He's a kid. How many kids are willing to get on a board like this and attempt to communicate and hold their own with the largest college football fan base in the nation? Eventually, he will learn how to post without pissing everyone off. But in the meanwhile, do you really feel better that you ran off a 15-year-old in the process?

From time to time since I've been on this board, I know some have had fun with some issues, even poking fun at MattC myself, but one needs to know when to grow up and/or get over it. Having fun with a comment here or there and absolutely bullying the kid are two different things. I don't know that I agreed with just about anything MattC said on this board, but he did attempt to communicate with the largest college football fan base in the country and rather than embracing him as one of our own, even with his lack of “experience” communicating with adults, we chose to alienate him until he either (a) quit visiting and posting to BN or (b) was banned. Frankly, there aren't many kids or teenagers that would even attempt be a part of a group such as BN and we chose to bash him to death.

For those who "called" for the ban, the 100 or so that contacted the staff, I don't know that there is a word to describe you. There is an "ignore" option on this board for a reason.

For those who banned him, I understand you're serving your customers, but you're catering to some folks that will run off your customers in the long run. They “own” this place, not you… and if anyone has a differing opinion from theirs, it is bashed relentlessly until you feel compelled to take the action you did. And don't say, "it was for the greater good." The greater good is encouraging discussion and differing points of view, not discouraging it. But, I suppose it’s just easier to ban him, right? And the masses cheer.

My personal experience on this board:

I've been on this board for about a year and a half. In that time, I’ve visited about every day or so to get the latest news and perhaps post on a few topics. It’s not my life, like a few folks here, and it’s those that seem to be doing the bullying. And a fine job of it, I might add.

I would consider myself to have been a substantive contributor as far as normal posting goes and have never had to deal with these “bullies” until recently, when I posted a topic that was highly controversial and really didn't realize how much so at the time I posted it. I didn't mind the DVs. In fact, I'm surprised that shalvoy, bollmanisaturd and papajoesbeer, et. al, that took a personal issue with me could only garner -110 DV's in more than a week, at the time I write this. Jeezus, PennState threw up +300 in one day. Just sayin. My last post on that thread was 7 days ago. I just grew tired responding to the ones who couldn’t get over it. I figured, hey, I ruffled some feathers and I’ll have to pay for it… I’ll do my time and after bludgeoning me for a few days, we’ll get back to what we’re all here for. But no. I hope you feel as if you’re getting your money’s worth bashing people. For ten bucks, what a deal!

What kind of people feel it necessary to continue their hate for a week and a half?

If someone makes a mistake, owns it and moves on, don’t you think you should also? It's a week later people. Get over it. At what point do you let go? Is it when you've run someone completely off this board? Is it when you feel as if you’ve “won the internet”? Is it when you feel your manhood is validated… on an internet board? Are you not intelligent enough to craft a response in disagreement that is meaningful even if you don’t like the Ops POV?

Just one word BuckNuts Bullies: “butthurt”

You're so full of shit and having a nice bout of revisionist history. You were one of the biggest bullies until you got the pack after you. Cry us a river and sign off if that's what you want to do. No one will shed any tears for your jackass leaving. Good riddance.

I'm not even talking about MattC. You were one of the torch wielding idiots that love to go along with the bullies until your epic fail of a post. Now you're singing a completely different tune. You insulted everyone, fought back, lied and only relented when you had no other choice. That's not realizing a mistake that's damage control. You care WAAAAY too much what random Internet posters think of you and are willing to sell out your team for up votes. Now you sound like a yoga instructor all peace love and harmony. But again, it's all fake and everyone knows it.
I dislike the Rant crowd and the way a lot of them conduct themselves with arrogance and attack non-rant posters in packs. Guess what? I'm not joining them and I don't care if they down vote me. I don't care if they DV me to MattC territory. I'm not changing for approval of strangers and neither should you. Except its probably too late.
