TY Williams. Ricquan Southward. Jamie Wood (pictured). All out. It's been a hectic few days but what does it mean? Here's what it means ...
Great article Duane, thanks for your insight.
Excellent report...as always!!!!!!
Cutting players could lead to a lack of thoroughness in the recruiting process. Gambling on someone knowing that if it does not work out you could always cut the kid later. This is not fair to the kid. I thought the committment of a kid to a school went both ways.
I like that we're cutting players that will never contribute. You actually opened my eyes with that statement. I saw what we're doing, cutting the dead weight. Why keep players on who'll never contribute? They can still get a free education or transfer to greener pastures.
I think with Meyer here we're starting to see up close and personal of how it's done in the Southeastern Conference. Do all means within the rules. Tressel always held on the dead weight. Meyer is much different. You don't perform you're shown the door. I don't believe in being stuck with some knucklehead on the team with horrible grades and attitude consuming a precious scholarship spot. ESP now that we're limited for a few years.
I think we're starting to see a transformation of our team right before our eyes. Many players have left or are/will leave. It's good for the program and players.
I also think with this overhaul, we're starting to see the relentlessness of Coach Meyer. On top of the recruits we're in on, guys like Quick & Stevens, now there's rumors FSU commit Whitfield will be taking an official and rumors of Jaylon Smith and staff getting back in contact.
This is kinda like a small sample of Meyer's last recruiting class at Florida. They absolutely STOLE the spotlight toward the end.
We are heading into an entirely brand new direction and I am holding on tight for the ride!!!
And I shall rejoice in victory for another 365 days over That School Up North.
I like the ones you seem to think will get. If we lose OL at the end of the year we may need to flip some for depth.
Mitchell a superior athlete and a superior body?
Katzenmoyer came here at 6-4, 245 and a ran a 4.45.
I like Mitchell, but Katzenmoyer was USA Today National Defensive Player of the Year. Started and starred from Game 1 here.
Mitchell isn't anywhere near that kind of player.

Well considering our biggest needs are lb and wr hopefully you're right. Bell is a definite want but will burrows on board we have our playmaking safety.
great stuff. I said the same thing about meyer yesterday in the boarding house that he can really manage a roster!!!
bob knight did it all the time too. I see nothing wrong with telling a kid upfront, your not working out here and maybe should move on. this board kills the sec for it, but we are doing the same thing last yr and now again. it's big boy football.
How many scholarships will we have to use this coming year. Seems like we had about 17 to 20. Now it seems like 23 or more.
I cannot believe that Chris Fields could not make plays. He made some pretty nice plays last year. Especially as a punt return guy. But this year nada! The receiver who seems immature from the prep school. I cannot believe that he cannot make some game time. The Glenville QB is not going to be here next year either. There might be as many as 10 players leaving and with 17 scholly's that would mean 27 available.
Good article Duane. Agree with your comments on being able to cut kids. Even though I was hoping for better opportunity with McMillan and others I am inclined to agree with your projections. The only one that possible could turn out differently is Vonn Bell. He might still come our way if Tennessee fires their HC at the season's end.
