This is high school track, not the Olympics. For years they have given medals to 6 places, now it is 8. The ninth place person in every individual event at the state level (in any sport) is a tremendous athlete. As a 36-year track coach I find your comment ignorant. You obviously haven't been to a state track meet, or any other state championship for that matter.

I applaud him for not enrolling early...you have only 1 time to enjoy high school. That said this is why we need to land a few more WRs/playmakers in this class. Marshall is a great athlete, but he will need tons of reps in the position and he won't be getting them until next June (without coaches) and August (w/coaches). Route running is not easily learned and perfected.

They give trophies to the regional champs in football in Ohio. They give trophies to the district and regional champs in basketball. As a matter of fact, I'm guessing the state runner-up gets a trophy as well in both sports. What's the difference?

In wrestling, they have like 8 dudes up there. That's a bit too many (and not just because they're all wearing singlets).

Staying in HS is cool, enjoy the time with your friends and enjoy being a kid, it all goes by too quickly as it it. Congrats too!

I'd like to get him enrolled early, but it's ok if he doesn't. He's got a lot to learn at WR, but once the balls in his hand, he knows what to do with it

Reminds me of a guy on my floor at Smith Hall named Todd Bell. He broke Jessie Owens long jump record in high school and ran a blocked punt back for a win against Michigan. When he wasn't working out or studying, he was reading his Bible in his room. He was a great guy. He called me the real "All American" because I had great grades. He was humble and kind , and could hit like a Ton of Bricks. I do not know Marshal at all but if if he is a Todd Bell type guy, he will be special.

A 6'6'' plus high jumper and close to 24' broad jumper with 4.4 speed that can throw, catch, and run a footbal is a freak athlete. Forget track medals, this type athlete doesn't come around too often. Devin Smith is in his class and measurables were a little better coming out of high school but he didn't throw the ball just catches it. Also, Jalin has one more year of high school to match Devin. I don't think the Buckeyes had two athletes with this type of athletic ability on the team at the same time. I don't think any school has. Shouldn't exclude Braxton Miller either!!!

gary...that's why we should be giving smith every chance to play at ohio state. he is a very good athlete with very good skills in football. we need to find a way to bring it out on the field!!
