Maryland President on Leaders/Legends Big 10/14? break up.

  • Seen a tweet from Tom Dienhart on the Maryland and Rutgers entering, and both Maryland and Rutgers go to the Leaders side, with Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue and Indiana.
Illinois moves out west with the other six teams in the legends.
I like it. We get some road trips to the east coast, crab cakes with trips to Maryland and lets hope some Fed Ex venues, and going to New Jersey, a little Atlantic City action.
Penn State stays tied to a few former schools as well.
Ohio State still makes out like a bandit, with the way Meyer is recruiting, Penn State on the downslide and we get Maryland and Rutgers, we get good recruiting exposure out there as well.

  • ESPN showing similar info: Rutgers, Maryland, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue and Indiana, Illinois slides west.
Champaign is an arm pit, will take an occassional road trip out east over that any day.
Ohio State made out big again.

That works for me, if we can just drop these dumbass names.

    I agree.
Rutgers right now at 9-1 (win out and they go to the Orange Bowl) and the past few years going 9-4 is an upgrade schedule wise over Illinois, and Maryland is on par, with the potential to do better than Illinois.
So OSU gets Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana, Penn State and two other teams if and when we go to 9 Big Ten games.
Throw in our future OOC scheduling with an elite program, and solid programs like Cincy, Boston College and North Carolina on the schedule, and a Big Ten title game, that is good enough to get in the four team play off's schedule and SOS in computers, easily.

  • @McMurphyESPN: Maryland prez tells regents MD, RU in Leaders Division w/OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Purdue & Indiana. Illinois moves to Legends

Eli Woodward has to be super happy! I'm thrilled with this too. Urban loves the east coast and we have better success there then we do in Chicago.

    Yep.
Ohio State exposure and teams playing in fertile east coast talent grounds like Maryland and New Jersey, check!
Ohio State getting more media exposure out east every season, check.
Ohio State the most dominant team under Meyer in the easier bracket, check.
This worked out fine, and our fans can get some east coast travel not seen often, or ones living out that direction get a lot more OSU access.
Maryland at Fed Ex Field in October like Indiana and Penn State played them, bring it on.
Rutgers once in a while under the lights of Yankee Stadium, bring it on.

Love the names. The B10 wants leaders, that become legends. Ya have to admit it's a good catch phrase. Yes? (Smile)

  • I'd like to send Purdue instead of The Illini so we could get that thorn out of our paw.

  • Yuck, B1G football becomes even more unwatchable.

No more complaining about our SOS or the SEC after this move. Quick cash for now, irrelevance later on.
