Recruiting? Because these two football factory states have been so dominant in the East. TV markets? Who is going to watch a diluted inferior quality product? ... because these two worthless schools don't give a F%&* about college football, and Maryland maybe brings some basketball quality - and they are going to be pissed not playing Duke, Carolina, Syracuse, and now ND. So we add a decent BB school ... so the F%$# what? Why not expand into the South where there are recruits and TV markets and real football. Idiotic stupid move. The B1G is a F*@#ing joke. I love OSU - the rest of the league in the B1G B10wz. I sort of get why the SEC is prideful now. They would never do something this ignorant. We went from seriously considering Texas and ND to jersey shore and a turtle. Not Florida State. Not Cryami. Not Georgia Tech. Not North Carolina and NC State. Not Virginai and Virginia Tech. Not Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. We get Rutgers and Maryland.

Actually, Rutgers will more than fulfill the need for adding a strong football team, while Maryland can be very strong in other sports, especially basketball. Maryland had to drop 7 sports (I think) due to not enough revenue from the ACC. The B1G will help to regain much of their program. Both schools have mentioned the desire to join the B1G due to academics and the cooperative system in science and research that exists in the B1G.

I believe the B1G has done its research - and it's not all about football. Getting these two teams will open up the TV market in New York, Washington DC, Baltimore, and everything in between. This will be huge.

Recruiting will be also affected. I know Missouri is a rich recruiting ground notwithstanding Zeke Elliott, but this puts the entire northeast coast in play for B1G schools. And the entire midwest for Maryland and Rutgers.

This is much more than football. Maryland has had some decent basketball teams over the years and both Maryland and Rutgers are good academic fits. At the end of the day however, the attraction of the East Coast TV markets and the huge population living there was too good to pass on. Our recruiting in the fertile Maryland and DC areas will only improve. Some top notch basketball talent in the DC area.
