    Dave,

Do you know who (find out) MClovin's player "host" were as well as his recruiter?

  • There are always boosters breaking rules. The real problem is when universities and coaches are the ones giving the money. That was the issue with the Can Newton story and this one.

  • Wow, what a surprise this is. College football is dirty and corrupt. Players get laid by skanks. I feel so disenchanted now. sarcasm

We all know this stuff happens, the NCAA is a farce and I can't say that I give a damn about the corruption any more. It's always been that way but now the media outlets are there to report it.

BTW, I also got laid my first weekend at OSU, so I'm not sure that the players are getting that special of treatment there, maybe just free antibiotics.

  • I don't think there is anything really "shocking" here.

I could make a flow chart of how the social aspects of these visits go. Do you want to a party? Yes -----> You want to drink Yes -------> You like that girl, I can introduce you? Yes -------> Hi my name is Laticia and you're cute. Can I show you my room? Yes

Even if the coaches were like fully aware of this kind of stuff it would still happen. As long as you are not going the Colorado route and providing strippers.

As for the handshakes allegation, I doubt McGlover can remember just who shook has hand a real long time ago and with what money.

The Auburn stuff is the meat and potatoes here. This is a glancing blow that won't go anywhere.

Does anyone remember that McGlover won some award he had to accept in Columbus a couple months after he switched to Auburn at the last second? He had a real lame speech when he realized it was a Buckeye friendly audience and seemed to give off a guilty vibe even then.

  • First off, the finger pointing is towards Auburn (even though you can insert any big time school in there). Second, very little was said about OSU. 3rd and most important... what in the world is the point of the ncaa. They friggin do nothing!! Pay for play has been going on forever. So all this is breaking news lol? Ohhh and didn't SBB break the story on a few OSU players selling their Michigan Uni's from last year. Ohhh, those were auctioned off for a benefit... great reporting SBB... you piece of garbage.

Here is what we do... get ride of the NCAA (minus a few guiding rules..ie a player must stay for 3 years) and, pay the kids. That way none of this Bulls%it will ever come up.

  • It is getting to be absurd...Wikipedia says this about Mr. (cough cough) Stanley:

"Stanley McClover was a star defensive lineman at Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale. As a junior he racked up 110 tackles, 13 sacks, three fumble recoveries, three blocked extra points and seven batted passes. A four-star and ranked as the nation’s No. 11[1] strongside defensive end by Rivals.com, McClover finished his senior season with 100 tackles, 20 tackles-for-loss, six forced fumbles and 32 sacks on the season. He was the leader of a young Dillard squad that finished 7-5, falling in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs. He ended up with 58 sacks in his high school career. However, high school was as good as it got for McClover.

In 2003 he was a partial qualifier that could practice but could not play. He was a Second-Team Sporting News Freshman All-America selection and a First Team All-SEC selection as well. He played in all 13 games, starting two and finished with 35 tackles, including 20 solo and led the team with four forced fumbles. He tied for the team lead with 7.5 sacks and led the team with nine quarterback hurries and tied for the team lead with 10 tackles for loss. In 2005 he was All-SEC honorable mention and played in 11 games with seven starts. He led the Tigers with eight sacks, registered 31 tackles, one forced fumble and three passes defensed.

On HBO's Real Sports in 2011, McClover claimed that while he was on a recruiting visit at Ohio State, not only money but also sexual favors were exchanged. He claimed that many other schools gave him money but he ended up at Auburn, insinuating that they gave him more. However, nothing can be proven."

If I remember correctly, he was thought to be going to Auburn early on. Hope none of this trickles down to OSU, but it really could open up a Pandora's box for Auburn for sure. I'm mean it's quite obvious that Auburn pays the best. This is just another example.

  • This article is much worse for Auburn as it directly implicates them (big surprise, right?). I still think Auburn will be punished worse than any team since SMU.

I no longer believe TOSU is a clean program. This article does not implicate Coach Tressel directly and I don't see addition to our penalty, but this looks bad. OUr perception is terrible right now. The more inside news that leaks out, the more we look like SEC north. The actions of Coach Tressel, the past players that have admitted to getting goods, and this story make it difficult for me to buy into the one time "lapse of judgment." This does happen at nearly every program. I don't think Coach T should be fire, but I no longer am under the illusion we are clean.

That said, I'd like to say if that kid's recruiting host will take me to a party sometime, the beer is definitely on me. biggrin

  • My best friend played at central Michigan. That's right... Central fricken Michigan. Not a big time school. Whenever they wanted a girl there were certain people to call. If it happens there...believe me it's happenin a lot of places.

None of this surprises me. I'm convinced there not a squeaky clean program in the country. It boils down tk how dirty they are at the end of the day.

  • The only thing that bugs me in regards to tOSU is the handshakes. That's what got Troy into trouble.

Groupies will throw themselves on football players at any school, that's out of tOSU hands.

Can't wait to hear the media spin on this one. Or will they just let it go ala sCam.

    murphy66245811

  • This was on Mike and Mike this morning, they only briefly mentioned Ohio State as one of the places where he received a cash handshake. They talked about Auburn handed over thousands and thousands of dollars of cash much more.

    tbdbitlbuckeye

  • Do any of you really care for a minute if a program is "clean" or "dirty" so long as it wins. Give me a break, we can take the so called " high road" all we want, but the truth is we as fans only care about the W's and L's. We don't have to deal with these players day in and day out. We base opinions about them based on media stories and production both on and off the field. The main reason we care about any of the present happenings at OSU is because it could effect past and future W's. Plus we have people in our lives that know we support OSU and we don't want to have to take any sh*t from them. However, I know we do the same to them when their school is going through a rough time. OSU is no better or no worse then any other high profile college program. All have warts and at time those warts show. But, this to will pass and we will still support the S&G. GO BUCKS!

  • Well call me naive. I don't believe this stuff happens under the Tressel regime. We can attract high quality players with the campus and the faciklities. And pay our players? If so, who would get paid more than our top name starters? And if they're getting paid why are they selling rings to pay for tattoos? Sex? Have you been to a college party lately? I don't think football players need some alumnus hooking him up with some hooker. It is a "target rich environment". I don't subscribe to the theory that "well everyone does it and we do too." I truly believe that OSU runs as clean aprogram as there is in the country and I will continue to believe that until there is definitive proof to the contrary. Certainly so no name former athlete who was here on avisit ten years ago would not change my opinion.

I'm gong to lay out the football schedule for the next 5 years, show me one, just one game Ohio State fans would find acceptable to lose.
