Urban Meyer was introduced as the 24th head football coach in Ohio State's history on Monday. He signed a six-year contract and Luke Fickell will remain on his staff.

Urban Meyer was national coach of the year three times...Wow! The big question is... Can Urban win Big Ten Coach of the Year honors? An honor Jim Tressel failed to win in his tenure. It's going to be tough to beat out Kirk Ferentz for that award! haha... Good luck Urban! We're all excited about the future. Nice call keeping Luke on the staff! Go Bucks!

Look! as long as tOSU recruits great athletes,tOSUs Coach will not win coach of the year, just like Jim Tressel, it's unfair but thats what you get in a haters league.You just throw your kids out on the field and just watch them roll right? you don't need 'Great Coaching' when you can recruit 'Great Talent'.

I agree... I was being sarcastic in my comments. I always found it funny that Tressel would win the conference every year but not get the B10 Coach of the Year. The hiring of Meyer just "upped the ante" in the Big Ten. He will dominate the league for the next 5 years until the other members get their act together. Ahhhh, I say let's skip B10 Coach of the Year...that's small beans. In about 10 years we'll call the Championship Trophy the Meyer-Stagg Trophy. Sound good...?

You do need great coaching to win championships. Greater talent will win you the majority of your games, but great talent and great coaches combined is the difference in a 9-3 season and a 12-0 season. I believe with Coach Myer we will have both!

so just a little read between the lines, we still could get a bowl game ban this year, going off GS's comment of "possible bowl game" and then that would be the end of that mess...

based on urban's track record, miller could be competing for a heisman in the next year or 2.

Meyer is a winner in every respect.

Way to diminish what Tressel accomplished. He was a top 5 coach in the nation and his record proves it. The 2002 team went 13-0 with many ugly wins but was hardly "vastly superior" to their opposition, including Michigan and Miami.
Tressel developed his players and his team always got better down the stretch. It is a crime that he never won Big Ten Coach of the Year Honors. He was a victim of his own success.
Welcome Urban Meyer - I hope he can duplicate if not improve on the excellence that Jim Tressel brought to this university.
