Rey Malalgua ran a 4.86 40 at his NFL combine after 4 years in the USC strength and conditioning program, James Lauranatuis a 4.82 at the same combine, after a short stint with Butch Reynolds and under Lichter.
Someone noted about his explosion early, that is key. At a hybrid or LEO, big key is his 10 yard time and shuttle for lateral quickness.
I know someone that knows Bo Pelini well, and he said guys like Dorsey and some of his big time DE/LEO's at LSU and Nebraska, the big key they and the NFL looked for, his 10 yard time. They also look at laterial shuttle speed, LB's, outside of maybe WSLB's hardly ever run 40 yard sprints straight ahead.
He noted Glenn Dorsey's 10 yard timing was unbelieveable, 40 time okay. That 10 yard quick explosion time around the LOS scrimmage got him his big draft day pick, DL and LB's hardly every run 40 yard sprints, let alone straight ahead.

  • Guys, if any of you were the best talent evaluators, you wouldn't be commenting here. But look at the attached post someone just put up. We can look at film of him up here, but your comments simply don't jive with the guys that are closer to him indicate, ie, he's a GET. Yeah, on the downside, he might be a pipeline get, but Whithers isn't gonna risk his rep or a valuable scholly for a kid he doesn't see making an impact. Period.

  • A number of factors drive my enthusiasm for any particular recruit including: videos, statistics, size of school, state, supposed personal measurements and speed, scholarships offered, etc. None of these are fool proof of course, but I LOVE his high school coaches' comments. Seems to me that these kinds of kids, more often than not, are the ones that achieve greatness.

    Hard not to be excited!

First of Congrats to Neal and welcome to the family!

Second, I have a huge problem with people that say we have no right to comment if we disagree on a prospect. Unless any coach is batting 100% or even 75% (most not even close), there is plenty of room for people to disagree. I've only been able to look at his sophomore film so my view is incomplete, but I didn't see that explosive first step everyone is talking about.

What worries me about some of the evaluators is they fall in love with camp numbers instead of full game impact or game film. We have seen numerous examples of camp freaks that just do not translate. A lot of posters never claim to be experts, but I have a problem with a lot of these "experts" predictions being tracked. There are plenty of people that are labeled as "experts" and gurus" because they are entertaining. It would be nice if there was higher standards (and transparency) for those that are paid so we can more accurately judge their credibility.

  • Ok so out of Neal, Sprinkle and Thompson who is likely to move up to the 4 star plateau? This isn't fair and might not even be remotely accurate but with Tress I would lean towards this type of commitment being a reach but with big boss Urb I chalk it up to he out scouted the rest and the Bucks will reap the benefits of other programs/scouts poor evaluations. Is that so wrong? Go Bucks!!

blah blah blah blah blah Listen, some of us know more than Urban Meyer and his over-hyped staff so go take your logic somewhere else. And, if I say this guy is a bust because he ran a 4.9...then the guy is a bust. If I didn't run an ankle bracelet shop, I'd be one of the top college football coaches in America…trust me.

  • ok, so this is friggin amazing, just when things couldnt get any better watching the buckeye nation pack the shoe on a crappy day, while charging admission. thus putting scum to shame with the measly 20,000 that came to watch for free. we land 3 recruits after these kidds came to see what kind of fan base they will be playing in front of. ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY BUCKEYES!!! GOD ITS GREAT TO BE A BUCKEYE!!!
