This might be just what we need... notice the announcement timing.. reel REEVES in and keep him from going to scUM... that will make this BIG news... I like having dudes from scUM on our coaching staff.. increase the riviarly... look at what Schembechler did after leaving Woody!! Think it was something like the 10 year war..

If Urban likes this hire then so do I. If coaching assignments wind up being as suggested then it would free up Luke's time a bit more for recruiting and game planning which would be a good thing. I for one think that Luke will do a good job in any capacity he is assigned and look for many of the doubters to be swayed over to his side in the future due to his performance.

this is a good hire why? because he was in the NFL? because he was at Um? because he can recruit Michigan?
Why not a young man that coached the DB's? Played DB in college and in the pros? Why not a young man that can relate with the kids he will coach? This guy doesn't meet any of the creds I would want in an OSU DB coach.
Really surprised.

It will interesting to see how they sort out the responsibilitiies. Do you take the Asst HC (Withers) and have him coach up the DBs, which is his specific expertise? Or have Sheridan (re)learn a new position responsibility? Lots of questions about how this defensive coaching staff will mesh? I would preferred Withers DB assistant from NC -- much better, immediate coordination between the two and I heard that the DB coach was also a super recruiter (into the Tidewater/NC market).

I could care less about the scum connection. Look at it this way...Recruiting coordinator experience, played and went to hs in MIch which means he will have instant crediablity in opening doors, a lot of defensive experience in "the league" and regardless of what we, the common fan think, future players look at that and say "this guy knows what it takes to get in the league or what NFL teams are looking for + he has pro connections"...that my friends will hopefully lead to some quality players. I think, based on experience, it looks like a good hire

The defense we had out there this year didn't have the personel we had in the past and doesn't have the speed we are going to put out there in the future. We had defensive tackles playing out of place,slow middle linebackers and corners you didn't know what they were going to do from game to game. Put the speed out there on defense and then judge Coach Fickel and i bet you will think he is a lot better coach. To be a good coach you have to know,your scemes but you need speed,speed and more speed on defense.

Can you read at all? Withers is coaching the Safeties. He would be coaching the CBs. He comes with credentials. What is wrong with you guys.

Not many were complaining about Chuck Heater having played in U of Michigan. So Bill S. Is from Michigan but never played in U of Michigan. So, the point is bit moot.
However, I'm surprised that Urban would hire NFL assistant. Isn't Bill satisfied with NFL?? But then Bollman came from Chicago Bears. However, Bollman doesn't seem to enjoy recruiting. Would Bill enjoy it? We'll see.
I really thought Troy Douglas would get hired.
I'm curious. Did Bill applied for it or did Urban contact him? It would tell us bit more about Bill.
