Agreed but apparently OU hasn't contacted him. Stoops also confirmed being in Columbus Yesterday and has previously stated interest in coaching at Ohio State. I think if Meyer wants him hes ours and I wouldn't be surprised if he was hired by the end of the weekend

He'll be 50 in two weeks. His stint at Az was the longest he's lived in one place since high school. I'd think a long tenure with a secure coach, back home...hopefully getting a retirement is enough of a lure for someone to just want to be a Co-DC.

Guys like Dick LeBeau are more than happy doing what they do at one place

Meyer did the same thing in Florida with his coordinators.. he wants one on the field and one in the booth to watch from above. His Co-Defensive coordinators when he was hired were Greg Mattison and Charlie Strong at Florida

I think once Meyer and Stoops sit down and talk (if they haven't already) that the DC job will be Stoops full time and not Co. I personally think that Fickell will be Assistant Head Coach and Co-Dline coach once Meyer gets all his staff lined up.

Wow i feel much better about Mike Stoops after reading that article. They sound very desparete for him, he must be a very high quality guy. I think he'll fit in really nice here and make our D nastier than ever.

A lot of schools use "co" coordinators, particularly on defense. This is so one coach can sit in the booth and see what the offense is doing from a birds eye view and then relay that to the coordinator on the field so he can make in game adjustments with the Players.
