Tressel and the selfish players he chose over this team.

Hopefully the fact he is there inspires the team. I hope Simon after the Buckeyes win goes over to Tressel and lets him know "you chose wrong."

Simon needs to thank Tress for for the opportunity he gave him and wish him all the success in the world. Fortunately, Simon's not anything near the type of classless ass-hat that you are.

People also forget that Gene's initial strategy was thwarted by Tressel's dishonesty. Initially, he was arguing it was isolated. Once it turned out the coach was involved, we were getting a bowl ban. Gene was really undercut by not knowing the whole situation. Once you are proven to not know what's going on, the NCAA was not going to see him as credible. The Bobby D incident was icing on the cake.

Ya know, all year long I have totally been in the boat that says we were going to get hammered no matter what. However, as time has gone on you really have to wonder if we had imposed a self-bowl ban whether the NCAA would've banned us this year too. Keep in mind all we got were 3 or 4 scholly reductions per year and probation, not really the end of the world. So the more I think about it I truly wonder if we had banned ourselves whether they would've banned us again, I'm not sure anymore.

Either way you slice it the grass always looks greener on the other side and the fact of the matter is if not for us being banned this year all we would need is ND to lose and we would be in the National title game.

So regardless of your stance on whether we should banned ourselves, just the very thought of "what if" should make you sick because we may have just had a shot.

A number of posters have stated OSU should have declined the Gator Bowl invite, but staying home from a second-tier bowl after a .500 season was hardly "punishment". The NCAA was looking to send a message, and accepting such a self-imposed "sanction" would have been a PR disaster for the suits in Indy.

Maybe a different story if we announced a self-imposed ban before the start of last season (i.e., gene's first presser), but I still don't think the NCAA was going to let OSU determine its own punishment under any circumstances. Whatever was self-imposed, the NCAA was going to go a step further.
