  • Last year we go to a meaningless bowl game and the guilty players get to play in the game.

This year when all the guilty players are no longer on the team we get the ban.

    Makes great sense---NOT.

Last year's bowl appearance did nothing for the team.

Smart play was to propose a ban last year in hopes that the NCAA would accept that as ample punishment and to truly punish those responsible,

You are clueless, and this has been beaten into submission.
Ohio State was getting a bowl ban in 2012 no matter if we pulled a Miami and sat out the Gator Bowl.
Once Degeronimo got popped with Herron, Posey and others, we were done. OSU was getting a bowl ban this year, whether we sat out the Gator Bowl or not.
This one has been beaten to death, get over it. Pryor and his posse sealed the fate there.

Agree 100%. We were going to get a "meaningful" bowl ban one way or the other. If we took it last year for the oh so prestigious gator bowl they would've hammered us this year anyway. I believe our people knew that in the end and is why we played last years game.

The digeronimo bit sealed our fate.

Says who? Am I missing something in your logic? Didn't the OSU "brain trust" claim that the reason we didn't self-impose a bowl ban was due to past precedent in recent cases? So by your logic,OSU believed our violations didn't require a bowl ban, but your saying that we actually would have received a 2 year ban? Either way, gene and Co. completely screwed the pooch in both scenarios

I agree. When the NCAA discovered that Tress knew what he knew when he knew it, and OSU had cut a deal to have T.P., et al, play in the Sugar Bowl, they wanted a pound of flesh. Tress always said, "it's about what is next", and the Bucks have seized the day under UFM. No bowl, but the future is so bright I'm wearihg sunglasses. Now, we need to finish strong.

This is not Gene Smith, ESPN, or any other crazy conspiracy figure.

Tressel and the selfish players he chose over this team.

Hopefully the fact he is there inspires the team. I hope Simon after the Buckeyes win goes over to Tressel and lets him know "you chose wrong."

Simon has nothing but love for JT. JT could have saved himself and completely destroyed the program but chose to take the brunt of it. If you think JT chose just those few that got caught you are sorely mistaken. I don't think you can name 10 scholarship players from the OSU team haven't broken NCAA rules. I only say that because I have personally witnessed it. It goes on everywhere, still is, and will always continue to happen. The trick is getting coaches who love OSU enough to do their time and never spill the beans on the players who aren't caught.

Simon is a great guy but I can tell you firsthand he has broken the rules too.
