I can't see how adding Maryland and Rutgers to the B1G will help OSU recruit. Especially in comparison to having Urban Meyer as head coach.

it's all about money not bragging rights. The SEC, SEC, SEC!! raw raw stuff is fine but, at the end of the day, it is individual teams that play for the NC.
With the BCS going to playoffs/and conferences expanding, the whole "my conference can beat your conference up" is going to become less and less relevant.
Adding Maryland and Rutgers does nothing to hurt Ohio State in any way. I think it is a good thing too (like the former player).

Shoot...If Maryland, Rutgers and Georgia Tech all join...you can damn well bet that ND will be taking a second look at the B1G again.

Maryland is getting the better end of this deal. My worry is that as we add more teams to the conference, the money split is watered down. Exactly how much more would a new TV market bring in from Maryland? Rutgers is a small market. New York is about pro teams.
All this while Maryland gets a huge cash infusion by joining one of the richest conferences in collegiate sports. This will mean more money for better facilities, better coaches, and eventually better teams. They won't be an "Ohio State" any time soon but the new "Purdue" or "Iowa" is certainly not out of reach. I'm more interested in how Maryland will make the basketball better.

It will broaden our recruiting for sure we will get some guys like Diggs whom will see us more...Do you think the Pac 12 added Colorado and Utah for football power???? I think not but it spread another region....

how long until ESPN(Disney..aka hungry Mouse) purchases the rights to college football in general...?? Should be exciting to see Alabama play LSU every single year for the Magic Kingdom Crown.. no matter how many loses they accrue.. just saying
