"A huge guy in a red polo shirt came up to me and punched me in the face.”
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
Handsdown winner for me.....
"Playing here is the closest thing to heaven on earth..." - Brian Rolle
My soph year...was playing 3 base as a sub for a senior and had to face Kent Merker. I swear to god he threw three fastballs and I never saw any of them. Bout shit my pants when the first pitched popped the catchers glove.
Vrabel... was playing scout team punt return at OSU... was 6'1 235, he locked his claws on my shoulder pads while pinching my tits, and tossed me like a girl. Stupid strong with a ridiculous motor.
Eddie George, Simply the best
Jerry Francis circa summer '81.. OSU bball summer camp. Thunderous dunk on a 5'5, 117lb clumsy white kid (played by me). Needless to say, I went to engineering camp the next summer. I had mad design skills ... where I "gave 110%" and "took it to the next level". Go Bucks!
Mine is not very specific, but I remember it likeit was yesterday...my Jr High school(1955) was facing a team that was the favorite to win the league, and it was the first game of the season....We were behind 4-3 and it was the 4th inning. Their clean-up hitter was a big kid with a name like John Hunter, or something like that. He had already hit 2 homeruns into the river that was over the left field fence. My coach told me to "shut them down", as a relief pitcher, and he sent me into the game. The clean up hitter was the first hitter I faced..I ended up facing the big clean up hitter twice and struck him out twice....it felt good...we did not win the game, but as I recall in the innings I pitched no one got on base.....we still lost 4-3..but I had met the test! felt good.
During the NBA lockout of '98, I was still playing pickup basketball for exercise. Let's just say that the pickup games at the Charlotte Y are a little more intense than your average church gathering. Anyway, I'm all of 5'6" with my shoes on, and I get on a team with David Wesley and playing against the late Bobby Phills, both with the Hornets at the time. At some point there's a 2 on 2 runout and I'm stuck trying to stop Phills. He must have been more interested in working on his pull-up J because that's what he did, and I swear I was staring straight ahead into his ribcage when he was at the top of his jumper. I was like, "what the fuck am I doing out here?"
Robert Smith. He could fly.
Mine is easy and probably not as impressive but coming from tiny Rossford High School by Toledo, playing Bellevue High School in 1997 was horrible. I was the middle linebacker for the team that ran into a power I of Chad Kuhns (Wisconsin Starting fullback for Dayne), Russ Kuhns (Wisconsin starting fullback for Davis) and Chris Sharpe (Scholarship running back University of Findlay). Trust me, my 200lbs defensive tackles agree, it sucked!
Kijana Carter...absolute beast to bring down. That kid had tree trunks for legs and I swear it was like running full speed into a brick wall...and I wasn't a small guy back then at 6'1" 215 myself.
Brad Fisher from Fostoria in 1976. He was about 6'4", 230 Lbs and reportedly ran a 4.7 as a defensive tackle. I tried to trap him one play. He beat the trap without me touching him and sent the running back to hospital for 3 days with a concussion. He went on to play for Clemson on their National Championship team as a offensive tackle.
Marcus Marek. I played for Newton Falls and he was at Brookfield. I was too young to play against Randy Gradichar but I watched him play for champion against Newton Falls.
Living in Orlando I used to play basketball at the downtown rec center and have played pick up games with Ray Seals DL (steelers in 90's) Shaq, Nick Andeson, Scott Skiles, Jack "Goose" Givens and Correy Maggette.
