You make a spot for Bell regardless. Another kid with family in Ohio, and is comfortable with Ohio and OSU. Meyer blew him away. If OSU ends up with Bell, Woodard, Burrows and Thompson, I am dancing with joy on that DB class. Meyer is pulling in kids from Texas, Florida, Georgia and a few other types regions, truly elite kids, that only Ohio State will get in the Big Ten with Urban!

I will be dancing right along with you 83. I have loved Bell from the minute I watched his film. The kid is a flat out playmaker on the defensive side of the ball and the kick return. Sounds like we are in great position with him!!

Landing Bell and Thomas would be an amazing (and much needed) safety haul.

I would rather see Bell and Cravens. But I think USC leads for Cravens.

cyclops I would rather see Nkemdiche and Bosa but I would also like 6 consecutive undefeated seasons.

  • The ONLY way you don't save a spot for a kid like this is if you add another safety that is equal or better... then you lean more towards need and probably STILL end up taking him because of talent and athleticism.

    Very exciting!

  • That's exciting news for Sure !!!! If we land him and the guys we have lookout baby !!!

You know we'd find a spot for guys like Bell, Jaylon Smith, and Pocic, even if we 'fill up' before they commit. They're just too talented to pass up.

good point ....certain players you keep doors open to until the end.
this might be a bit off topic, but IMO this team will have more attrition
    before next signing day.

  • As a coach in the north Georgia area, I have seen this kid on film and he is one ball playin Jesse. Unreal speed coming out of a break going for the ball. Not sure he will be a big hitter but he is a ball hawk.

This kid could be a play maker as a receiver too. He runs hard and is a good football player, a major upgrade over the last regime who tried to convert HS qb's into being tackling machines. I'd rather have the second ranked player at the natural position of Saftey! thank you Urban for noticing! This is just a refreshing change. What a difference it makes with the recruits when you offer earlier as a staff. Bollman slow played Kyle Dodson and didn't even offer Taylor Decker, who is, by all accounts, a great LT prospect with size and athleticism. The point is Bollman was still evaluating offensive players and lineman and slow with offers. This staff has blanketed the country and offered the best combo of student athletes from every where. Getting Decker here in the spring is absolutely huge!

I love that we're chasing him at the same time as we're trying the slow flip of Thomas. This means that Meyer is still gunning for one top safety in this class and he is setting his sights quite high.

Imagine pulling another top 50 kid from out of state? Jeesh, the rest of the Big Ten won't be able to compete if this keeps up.

2013 and 2014 classes both will have priority in the secondary.
Looking at the depth chart, we have 3 Seniors, and 4 Juniors to replace. Everyone keeps centering in on Linebackers when we especially need Safeties.
On top of Burrows, Woodard and Thompson, I would love to land 2 or even three more in this class. Bell excites me. Alexander does too, but I think that those twins may be a package deal that may end up at Nebraska for that reason. And I think in the end, Urban and Brionte can flip Thomas with all the excitement in Buckeye Nation., because the mo jo up north will be declining.
Urban should tell Dymonte sure we will give you a shot at RB, but if it doesn't work out, you will move back to SS.
I also like the sleeper kid from Canal Winchester Rod Parsley Church School that plays both ways.

I have no idea of any 2014 DBs yet.
