OT: Christian Rap

  • Btw u can listen to the bible on iPod or iPhone all you have to do is download the free app. I don't need to carry a bible because my iPhone is a bible that I can read or listen to.

  • Awesome stuff... Never thought I would read a Lecrae thread on this sight but very cool. I listen almost on a daily basis. It re-calibrates my mind and heart on the right things... every time. Forget the "style" or the "quality," man I need what they're saying!

Jerome | Judgment Day "Second Coming" Al...

Each day is a gift. We need to, "Live each day like the last but prepare for forever". This song represents that all will stand before God one day and give account. The story in this video is that the cases/bags represent the cares of this world and our sins that we hold on to. We like to hide them and don't want to give them up. The main character realizes he can't take it anymore and throws his sins in the river/water on the bridge. The water represents Christs forgiveness and sacrifice for us. The bridge is portraying eternity and we will all walk into it one day. The main character trys to help others realize the seriousness of their sins and they don't want to hear it at all. Are you willing to meet God with your cases/bags? There is always room in Christ's house, and He madly loves you...Jesus is the only one perfect and holy, the cool part is we can't earn salvation...He did it for us. www.soundsgoodrecords.com www.jeromesecondcoming.com www.mysoundpartner.com

I've always enjoyed old school hip hop and have listened to a lot of secular rap in my day, althought I was never into gangsta rap. When I started trying to listen to christian music exclusively, rap was left out of my collection. I thought christian rap was cheesy and theres no way it could bring honor to God or benefit any Christian. Man was I wrong! Last summer, I was introduced to a christian rapper named Lecrae and I loved it!! I quickly purchased all his albums and listened to him nonstop for 2 or 3 months. After researching a little bit, I discovered that Lecrae was associated with a group of 40 christian rappers called the 116 clique (Romans 1:16). The more I listened to the music, the more Bible I learned through it. Ive been in church my whole life and I've learned things from this music that I had never heard before. Their purpose is to uplift Christ and they accomplish it in every song. Some of them even graduated from seminary, so they know their stuff. The music is encouraging and I feel like my relationship with Christ has been strengthened through it and like I said, I've learned a ton about the Bible. I know there are a lot of people on this board who listen to rap music. I want to encourage you guys (Christian and Non-Christian) to check out some of these rappers on youtube or itunes. I know how christian rap seems (I thought it was cheesy too as a christian!), but these guys are awesome at what they do and I think you'll find that it's very good music. Great Lyrics, great beats, and a great message! If I were going to suggest an album to check out first, it would be Trip Lee's "The Good Life" that just came out in April. Every song is very good and he hits on all kinds of subjects and delves very deeply into them. Thanks for reading and go buckeyes

My wife loves Lecrae! I do not personally enjoy rap, but I have listened to their lyrics and they are some of the most deep Christian lyrics I have heard. There are many kids that like rap, and most of it is so hateful. So I love how he is using culture to reach the lost for Christ!
