    This is the biggest abuse of the absentee policy there is. I bet at least 70-80 % use it to get around any "dings'' on their attendance. For those that have a kid or need it such as cancer or some other recurring illness it's great. But for those who just want their 3 or 4 extra vacation days per month because they use them all up by March irks me to no end. I love it when one of them gets busted such as the guy who used FMLA to take his father to chemo that coincendently was every Friday afternoon late in the day, which happened to be when the guy's softball league played. BUSTED ! They found out the times and saw that it didn't interfere with his 2nd shift work schedule.Investegators tracked him to his local pub where his team drank, still in uniform. Falsifying records basically.

    I also love it when the ones who are cheaters don't work enough in a year and run out or can't get it the following year. It's the biggest pain in the ASS ever created by gov.

    My office has the biggest number of fmla users in the entire business and I am talking about one of the leading employers in the country. I would love to see more of our abusers get caught. Facebook is starting to help that. People are idiots on facebook.

  • FMLA is theory is a great program but like everything else the government comes up with, it has too many loop holes and is entirely too easy to abuse.
    I have two people who work for me who have coverage for migraines. They get 4 episodes a month for up to 3 days an episode. This means they get up to 12 days a month off and because it is a union shop, they are paid. FMLA is the real 4 letter F word!

  • I call it FLAB Family Leave of Absence Bullshit! I too work in a union shop with so many people on this program abusing it.You can't count on everyone to be at work so we work overtime to compensate. It's ridiculous I gotta buddy text me today "not gonna be in next two days fmla" I like the guy good worker when he's here but, he has a absentee problem so union tells people like him to go on flma. Bullshit get your ass to work or will find someone that wants a job & will be here.

  • it's a great program for people with illness in family or health issues themselves. There's just to many people where I work that are on it without those problems it's used to inable their absentee problems

    Needs a break? Lol. FMLA is so abused in this country, it's sickening. I deal with this everyday. For every 15 people I deal with regarding FMLA, I bet 2 are real. One person isn't allowed to work after 7pm. Another can't work over 40 hours. Another 32 hours. One gets two "mental health" days a month. One guy has been rehabbing his knee for fourth months three times a week (he works at a desk btw). LOL. It's comical.

    If your friend has a legit reason, he will have no problem getting FMLA paperwork. Hell, even if he doesn't, he will probably be able to get them just fine.

    This is starting to become the norm in America. And we sit there and scratch our heads every time a company packs up and moves out of this country. Wonder why.

    This is like when people ask where you can stream games for free. Within this community you have good buckeyes and those Bukeyes who may be a little deviant. Don't like it, ignore it homie.

    Don't know why you should be able to use this to help your spouse out after child birth. Unless, you work for a nazi that doesn't give you any paid time off for it. I know for each of my 3 children i had 5 days a piece and that was more then enough sleepless nights for me. I couldn't wait to say...sorry dear i need my rest for work tommorow:P Wish they would find a way to actually pay the poor women who can't work for 6 to 8 weeks or longer. Those are the ones that could really use the help
