O.T. Greatest NFL RB?

This is where youngsters need to realize that even though his competition isn't what the studs are today, Jim Brown didn't have all the amazing training techniques that the players do now. They have coaches and chefs and nutritionists and doctors that do everything to make sure they have the best of everything. The players back then, hell most had to take a second job to make it work at home.

Serious question, what percentage of current players would get a second job to provide for their families if they only made 20,000 per year to play?

Jim Brown could have started on pretty much any team in his 40's if he wanted to play.

And in collage he was a 2 sport All AMERICAN, who knows the other sport!!

Oh and he lettered in Collage in track and basketball as well as football and that other sport!!!

  • Bo Jackson

Second would probably be Jim Brown.

If Jackson hadn't been injured, he would've eclipsed every running back record in the record book. Well, not every one but the important ones. He was probably the most complete back I've seen play the game and I've been watching football a very very long time.

    But thats just my opinion.

  • #1 Jim Brown. Carried the ball as an excuse to hurt some one. Epic battles with Sam Huff.
    #2 Leroy Kelly.
    #3 Greg Pruitt.

Some of the other teams had good backs, too......

Jim Brown, then the discussion begins for who's next.

Im not a fan of his persona but his stats really tell the story. The guy did work in shorter seasons and in 9 years. If he played 16 games for 14-15 years hed be at 25K. As for guys of my era, Eric Dickerson (Rams) is my personal favorite. As a kid I wore #29 and didnt even sniff the RB position but I HAD to have ED's number.

  • Dude, he played against huff, butkus, nitscke,: curtis all in the hall of fame. Also, they didn't have all those personal foul rules they do now. Might as well make th offensive backs an recievers wear dresses. Then, they hit you to get you down, then keep on hitting you while your down. They were some of the meanest sons a bitches in nfl history. Unlike the pampered players now a days. Another example, they hit in their practices. Now, because of the nflpa, they have one day in full uni's, with minimal contact.

They were inFerior to the players now. Much slower and lighter. F=ma. The guys hit harder now, and are by far faster. The guys back then would get rolled head to head.

on the other hand put todays players in 1965 gear (primitive and heavy), with 1965 turf (grass and mud), 1965 rules, 1965 workout equipment, 1965 "dietary supplements" (usually from a local brewery and tobacco stand) and things might get interesting.

Too many changes in technology, nutrition, etc to really compare anymore.

    just sayin'

  • Bo was awesome.once he got going there was no stopping him. He ran like a deer. It was magical watching him. Now I feel like watching Bo highlights. Barry was awesome, too.

He only played against Nitschke and Huff. Butkus and Curtis were later. Curtis is not in the HOF.

  • Had he played football full time and not gotten hurt, Bo Jackson would have gone down as the greatest RB of all time.
