I have owned Jack Russel Terriers. Terriers imo are the only small dog I would consider. Small dog with a big dog attitude. That said they have some annoying traits (like all breeds). They whine a bit and can be very hyper. However, I personally love their personalities.

All that said, Terriers can easily live in small houses and thrive in small yards. You will want to still get the dog out daily for walks. Aside from that if you don't have little kids (and maybe even if you do) these are great dogs.

Completely agree. My 4 year old Havanese just can't wait to get in the car and go for a ride. We take him with us on trips and whenever we're just out running errands. He doesn't care; just so he's with us. He lays on the back seat and sleeps. Be sure to bring his collar and leash in case he needs to "drop the kids at the pool"! Let him sleep with you and give him table food. He's your best friend, so treat him good. Our pup gets chicken, lamb, pot roast, steak mixed in with his meal every night. He loves it. He never goes near a plate with food on it or begs from anyone. He behaves exactly the way he's been trained. That's the key.....train him to fit into your life, not vice versa. We have 9 grand kids and 3 great grand kids and he can't wait for them to visit or get to go to their houses. Playful and loving.
