OT best casinos in the Midwest..

  • I live in Illinois and have a couple days off in march. I was thinking about taking the girlfriend to a casino resort. We have been to all the ones in St Louis and would like to try somewhere new. I was online looking at Blue Chip in Michigan City IN, also casinos in Kansas City.. Windsor is too far for me. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

  • Hollywood in Lawrenceburg, is a Vegas style casino with a great steakhouse called the Final Cut. Call early in the week if you want a room on a weekend. About 80 miles from Louisville and 25 from Cincinnati..

    GCFAN

  • Tunica may be too far for you according to where in Illinois you live, but the casinos down there are nice and there are several.

  • Four winds casino is about 20 miles east of Blue Chip and is really nice. Firekeepers in Battle Creek, Mi is only 3 years old and is nice also.

  • Soaring Eagle in Mt Pleasant, MI is very nice but may be too far away for you...

    Soaring Eagle is very good.

MGM Detroit is very good...really feels like you are in a cool, legit casino. Plus its a short cab ride from all stuff downtown

Harrah's in KC was good (at least 7 yrs ago)

  • stay in Illinois and go to the new Rivers Casino in Chicago...absolutely fantastic...

  • Horseshoe in Hammond, Ind. is awesome, not much there other than the casino, not even a hotel there (there should be), they have a great buffet there

MGM in Detroit is awesome, great steakhouse there

They changed Casino Windsor to a Caesars property and I understand you can sports bet some parlays there. I have not been there in last 5 years but have to think it's nice. Sucks you need a passport to cross the border. They've made that process a real pain in the behind.

The casino in downtown St. Louis looks nice, but since OSU got bounced by Tennessee there 2 years ago we never made it there.

They are building a new Hollywood Casino in Kansas City and that will be real nice, I bet.

Haven't been to Argosy since they changed it to Hollywood but that was always OK.

Loved an overnight at Caesars outside Louisville, they have a connected golf course (about 5 miles away but discounts, etc.). Great place. Amazing steakhouse (Portico, I believe)

Looking forward to Cols having a Hollywood Casino soon (as well as Cincy and Cleveland downtown there as well). Too bad they put it near Westland Mall. It needed to be downtown by arena (45 hockey games a year) and Huntington Park (65 baseball games a year). That's their clientele. For us living on east side, that will be a schlep over there to a nowhere destination.

  • Cleveland's casino will be opening on May 14th. I'm hoping it's decent.

Helwagen - Are you still in for the 247 Vegas trip in August?

I'd say that is unlikely unless something changes.
