Ohio State No. 1 in 2014 basketball team recruiting rankings

  • Shaqquan Aaron pushes Louisville to No. 2 in the 2014 rankings

Louisville landed prized recruit Shaqquan Aaron over the weekend and took over the No. 2 spot in the 2014 team recruiting rankings.

  • I heard Kentucky had 5 McDonald All Americans commit, a first in recruiting. Has anyone got info on this?

  • Good to see! All the posters complaining about Matta and recruiting need to do some research first.

Next year is going to be challenging to say the least.

Not sure recruiting is the gripe against Thad, perhaps player development with all of his current TOP recruits.

TOP 100 in Shannon Scott, Amir, LSJ, Sam Thompson, LaQuinton Ross and Jordan Sibert who transferred. That's 6 guys have done very little..
All that has panned out in DT. Craft, McDonald, Ravenall and ADV were not Top 100 prospects.

  • You have LSJ and Craft backwards, Craft was top 100 and LSJ was not. Also, LSJ was an all-East division performer in the tournament last year. To say he has done very little is inaccurate. The others you mentioned (minus Sibert) are still developing and all have great potential, in my opinion.

  • the reason smith had a good tourney last year was because teams kept dropping his man back to double up on sully. the reason they did that was because he had a terrible season. just because he stepped up in 2-3 games in the tourney with no one guarding him isn't saying much. and this year--right back to ho-hum!!

#1 class this early means very little. At this point, it's more about the number of commits than anything else. Teams with 5 scholarships available will have a better class than teams with 2 available. I like the 3 guys we got, and I think we'll finish with a top 10 class, but it's not going to be really elite unless we get some other guys to complement what we have.

    I don't think so..

LSJ is listed as TOP 100 Craft is not

    Also,

Top 100 is meaningless. If you plan to compete for titles you have to have NBA bodies. There is not 100 players that will get drafted for each recruiting class. A total of 60 kids get drafted each year and of those 60 an even smaller % actually make it in the NBA. Its about getting kids that can play and at a high level in the NBA. It is showing right now on this team that we lack true NBA talent. You don't recruit 4 year kids and expect to win titles. You recruit kids that will leave after a year or 2 and and fill in around them. We have to many role players and not enough true elite level NBA kids.

DT is the only player right now who you can seriously say has a chance to play at the NBA level. Craft will make a team as a bench player / depth and that's it. Ross has had his growth stunted for whatever reason (defense i guess) but for the rest of the guys they are not NBA bodies. After 2 years you know what you have in players. We are going to have to hope like hell the freshman next year along with Amedeo Della Valle can add enough scoring.

LSJ was top 100 and Craft was not, IIRC

UPDATE: Rivals had Craft 111 and Smith 132. Craft got a late pump in the rankings, I think.

  • WHAT??? No Michigan showing up at all on that list? That will break my heart to see them drop back down to a 2nd/3rd tier team. After Urban lays the beatdown on them for next couple years and their BBall team gets back to mediocrity it will all be good again...
