I am not saying you guys are wrong. I am saying none of these guys turns ME on.

The main four guys I am hearing are Meyer, Guden, Bob Stoops and Pelini. Let's take them one at a time:

1. Meyer

You tout - 1 Mount West Championship, 2 SEC Championships, 2 BCS National Championships. Wow, great resume.

My concerns - He was a great head coach 2004-2008, not so much 2009-2010. Financially, he is set and can work in TV for the rest his life and never touch the bucks in the bank. Does he still have the fire in his belly? Doesn't look like it to me. Also, there are questions about his reliability and his long term commitment.

2. Gruden

You tout - 1 Super Bowl Championship

My Concern - He has not been a college coach in 20 years; he was an assistant at Southeast Missouri State, the University of the Pacific, and the University of Pittsburgh for a total of 5 years. Not exactly a murder's row. He has no track record as a recruiter. The numbers of successful pro coaches that fail at college coaching are legion. Like Meyer, he is set for life and can work in TV and never touch the bucks in the bank. Does he still have the fire in his belly? Doesn't look like it to me.

3. Stoops

You tout - Big XLL Championships, 1 National Championship

My concern - Anybody that thinks Stoops is leaving Oklahoma to start over at OSU has rocks in their head. He is an Iowa alum, and not an OSU guy as far as I can tell. Besides, Big Game Bob has lost far more big games lately than he as won - loosing record against Texas in the last 5 years and in BCS Bowls over all (3 - 5).

1. Pelini

You tout - What? He has conference and national championships as an assistant, just like Fickell. In fact Fickell has more Conference Championships and BCS Bowl wins than Pelini.

My concern - It's true that Pelini has head coaching experience and Luke does not, but that applies to thousands of college coaches. Does that make them candidates for the job over Fickell? I don't think so. Many of national championships have been won by coaches in their first head coaching gig -- Bob Stoops won his in his second year as head coach.
