Petition to end Racist/Homophobia on the Blue Board

    A group of us have been alerted to the fact that the Blue Board, the flagship board of 247, has and continues to be tolerant of racist/homophobic comments. In an effort to change this, we're starting a petition, with a message to 247 that this type of content is not acceptable for this community.     I have no desire to exercise censorship of anyone regardless of whether I find their views dispicable If 24/7 does it then fine but I am not lending my support.

    I also have a problem with the 'hot button' topics chosen over other categories of 'hate speech'. I disagree with all of it but elevating some over the rest only adds to the problem.

  • Only way to get rid of it is get rid of old people! :) I'm a white manand find about 20-25% of whites are racist. That's going off who I talk to day to day at work and other places. I think that about 90% of black males look at me like they hate me :/. Black women seem to be almost not racist at all to me. To be honest I also feel that 20-25% of the whites i felt are racist are almost all men. I don't think its the women that are the racist. Remember one thing.. Racism go both ways... I get treated in racist ways all the time.. It's just brushed under the rug. I mean think of the name of a movie...White men can't jump. Anytime you make a negative statement... And add race into it. It's racist.

  • More thought and speech policing. I respectfully decline signing your petition, although I'm sure you mean well. Who am I, or anybody else for that matter, to tell someone what they can or can't say. All this PC stuff is a slippery slope...one day we will all regret it.

    Agree, we should start burning books!! i hate the term "spray fart" should i petition to get that banned? Why dont you leave those posters alone and worry about yourself.

    There should be another board for off color talk.

    How are you going to punish paying membes for comments that are taken subjectively as anti-homosex or racism. If i say i am against the former being taught to grade school kids, is some over sensitive person going to complain on me and get me banned?? I mean how do you make that work??
