Duane Long lets you know about several Ohio players that could be line for a late Ohio State offer and why it is a good thing they are still "available."

    Duane

  • How do you feel about the Columbus wr on the verge of an offer? name escapes me.

  • I brought up Myles Hilliard before. Nice frame and size, and he can add the right weight. Heard he is a big OSU fan, with Powell in Columbus an offer to Hillard could sway him back.
Redshirt and like Duane said SSDE with the right work or OL.

  • This was a great article. I didnt know about all these guys before now. Couldn't be happier with Bucknuts. Keep it up duane.

  • Is that just your NE Ohio list or something?

That is usually where the talent comes from. SW Ohio had a couple of good years in a row but traditionally NE Ohio is where the talent comes from.

I like Roger Lewis alot. I like Dwayne Stanford better and the JUCO kid Michael Thomas better but both Roger Lewis and Monty Madaris are Buckeye caliber receivers.

  • Thanks Daune always like these kind of articles.

  • chapman is deffinately a project. from watchin his tape i was wondering if he could walk and chew gum at the same time. maybe someday, but he needs to grow into that height.

  • Hilliard is comitted to Pitt. Wouldn't giving him an offer violate the Gentle-mens agreement? Hope "Hoke-a-joke" don't hear about this.

Are Hilliard and Chapman really Big 5 O-line talent or just emergency filler? While I am much more of an optimistic defender of O-line recruiting than a doomsday negabuck, you have recently brought some clouds to my sunshine with these two observations: 1) Jacoby Boren resembles Zach more than Justin and may in fact be a better FB than OL. 2) Elflien could be a John Simon type DL but just doesn't look like he has the size (285?) to be a Buckeye OL. Having another great FB and DL would be awesome, but O-line will be and always has been the primary cog to a successful football team. So are they reaches or are they truly worthy? And who, if any, of the elite talent, both in state and out, do you think we actually get to help our O-line needs? Not who you would like us to get, but who we actually get?

I believe Hilliard is. Last year was his first year playing defense. Look at the body. He has 300 well distributed lbs written all over him. I think he holds his athleticism. If he doesn't, look at how long he is. He would still be athletic enough to play left tackle. Chapman is not a Big Five player. He has a Big Five body. If you just had to have a kid, a body, out of this class to put in there and try to make a left tackle out of him, I would take Chapman.

I think we have a genuine shot at Diamond now. The first five games are going to be very important. We will see if we have a left tackle for 2012, and so will he. Marcus Hall looks like the guy. He is only a sophmore. If he shows well we can stop sweating bullets. We can go back to sweating regular about the lack of depth and the future of the position. If Hall struggles we can sit down and show Diamond every play and tell him that we want to move Hall elsewhere. We need a left tackle. As soon as you fax your LOI through to us, I put your name up there on our board as the number one left tackle.

If we go ahead and offer Kozan we get him. At least if we offer him anytime soon.

Before anyone asks me about Davidson I know nothing. I don't know anyone who does. I am to the point that I think we will see an interview with Hoffa before we get one with Davidson.

I think it is more what Pat Fitzgerald said. If a kid does not say I am done, then coaches should have the right to call. I think that is the case with Hilliard and Ohio State specifically. I doubt he has that arrangement with every school.
