the 1st 4 from the south, not surprising. Then Hawaii, I'm assuming linemen with the Samowian(sp) population. Ohio is next, I knew we had a hot bed of talent, but seeing it broke down like that, the HS coaches in ohio need HUGE props for teaching the young men......

  • ohio DOMINATES michigan in total players (159 to 67) and percentage that make it to div 1 fbs!!!!

  • look at the big 10 states of iowa, nebraska, wisconsin, and minnesota. it's obvious why they have to go outa state for players. that is just sad.

  • Good find.

Lots of observations can be made. First of all, Florida, wow - what a high ratio. about 70% of the amount of players as Ohio but about twice as many D1 signees. They crushed California with 1/3 the amount of players!

Obviously the south has a huge advantage but It looks like There is a lot of east coast talent that is ripe for the picking. I think the SEC is dominating the virginia, maryland, and north carolina and this is where the B10, especially PSU could do more damage (Urbs is already doing fine in this department).

New Jersey coming in at tied for 13th with Maryland/DC for total recuits. More reason to hit the east coast.

Also, illinois should be fielding much better teams in a state that is number ten in most signees total.

More credit can be given to Ferentz for being able to remain somewhat nationally relevant with such a weak pool. Same can be said for Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota as the poster above alluded to.

  • that says to me that the other states in the BIG Ten (besides Ohio, PA, Illinois, and Indiana) need to step it up BIG TIME.

If I'm in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and TSUN- I open up youth camps starting in pee wee and Middle School. They have to start developing some more home grown talent, because let's face it in 20 years if they do something to kick start it they will still be left behind.

This is not a quick fix by any means, but unless these states want to continue being OSU's whipping boys forever they have to do something.

Yah Cali was really lagging this year, but those are consistant results for Florida.

  • However, the number of Ohio is inflated somewhat because of MAC. There are many MAC schools in Ohio: Miami, Kent State, Akron, Toledo, Ohio, and Bowling Green. They are Div. I, but are not comparable to the BCS schools.

And the south has the sun belt, and some CUSA teams. If you're talented you play regardless of where you come from or where you go to school. It's not like the MAC takes lesser talented kids than anywhere else. If they're good enough to play then they'll get a scholly.
