Roby Is Returning: Instant Analysis

    Don't get me wrong -- I think Bell is a great player--but Chris Worley looks like a fierce hitter and very fluid when he is covering a WR. Call me crazy but I would rather have Worley than what I have seen from Vonn Bell and here is my reasons: Worley has played quite a bit at linebacker, he is a punishing tackler, you can bring him down into the box because he has the size and the attitude to be a force against the run yet he still has the wheels to cover a WR. If you look at the film of both--most of Bell's tackles come in the secondary--most of Worley's tackles are made in the box or behind the line of scrimmage. Worley will be great for the BIG like Coleman was, and if we ever face a team like oh say Alabama or LSU or ND in a National Championship game you're gonna need safeties that can be a force and play down in the box and not just cover a wr. I think Bell is a better cover safety but at the next level I don't think he is physical enough. OSU hasn't had a safety willing to play in box since Kurt Coleman. Worley is 6'3 -- alot bigger than Bell. Give me Worley and Jayme Thompson and I'm happy-- gives you 2 big safeties. That's my two-cents!

    Here is some film on Worley's senior year -- dude is a beast .

    Dude, watched your video and yes the kid can hit but i have a big problem with wrapping up, don't they teach technique at Glenville? He hits well but at least 4 different times he didn't wrap up, remind you of anybody else. If he can learn to do that, which Bryant hasn't been able to do, he would be great.

    I hear ya--but isn't that on the coaches to teach them to wrap up and grab some jersey when tackling. If Fickell and his D coaches can't find a way to drill that into their heads to where it shows on the field then OSU has big problems. I still hope they don't take Bell and then lose Worley. If we get both that's fine too.

    And if they do get both Bell and Worley --- I would put Bell at cornerback--watched the UA game he was doing a great job covering some the best WRs in the country. He obviously has the speed to play the position and tell him he will make a lot more money in the NFL as a CB. Then you would have great corners in Bell, Woodard or Burrows and then Worley and Thompson as safeties. That would be a pretty awesome secondary.

    Anyone else like how Roby didn't call a press conference to announce this? He's not all about himself -- doesn't need the limelight. Just a hell of a player.

    And don't get me wrong. If you've ever heard him talk you know he's very confident. But it's the definition of "quiet confidence." I absolutely love his game and the way he conducts himself off-the-field. Get ready for a great 2013 season, Buckeye fans.

    Dave;
    Good point. He lets his play do his talking although he is very articulate. Good quality kid! As Woody said . . you win with people!
    Go Bucks!

    P.S. I thought both Johnson and Mtchell handled themselves very well during their moments in the sun on TV.

  • HUGE!!! Its hard to say in words how big of a difference this makes. Not only is it proven talent, but its also leadership to compliment Shazier on defense. This impacts our entire DB situation. This was vital to accomplishing our goals for next season.

    Huge for sure! Bell would be nice but with Mitchel and Trey Johnson, this class is amazing. I said before Bell picked L'ville that he'd be nice but not essential. Mitchell and Johnson were the essential gets and we GOT!

    Bell did not pick L`ville that was Quick.
