Great piece. And look, with what happened with Coach Tressel and then the Penn State scandal, and then our mega-rebound with hiring Coach Meyer, it was a bizzare recruiting year. It's why verbal committments are non-binding. We didn't "poach" anybody. Some kids were rightfully confused about Ohio State given the limbo we were in regarding who the permanent coach would be, grown adults were blown away at what was going on at PSU so you can imagine the reaction of 17-18-year old boys who rightfully decided to look elsewhere, at least some of them. It was a bizzare recruiting year with lots of unforseen off-the-field incidents and the Buckeyes brought in the Ace card. He sold what he was going to do at Ohio State and nobody should be surprised that the upper echelon kids, many of whom would have been here anyway had the status quo remained, bought into it. Further evidence to this is that Coach Meyer already has his 2013 class picked out and he won't have to do this part of the job in 8 weeks and he sure as hell won't have to convince these kids of where they "should" be because they'll already be here.

To the rest of the B1G crybaby outfits, if snake oil is winning national championships and playing for the most hard-nosed coach in the country, then give me the snake oil.

I finally watched Marcus' highlight video. Extremely athletic and very quick. Good reactions, love the way he fought through blocks (don't recall anyone pushing him back). Only complaint: seemed like he did a LOT of arm-tackling. He won't get away with that at this level. Coaches will have to change that (and I'm sure they will).
