Source: OSU has "no chance" at Dunn or Kalis

  • Wow. This coming from the family member of an OSU player. These guys aren't just decommitting, they have written off going to OSU. Remember, there are current and former OSU players who went to the same high school as Kalis and Dunn respectively. Word going around at both St. Eds and GlenOak are that the Buckeyes have "no chance" at landing either of them.

    What a complete 180 for Kalis. I'm not surprised in the least about Dunn. When I interviewed him two months ago and he said he was "opening things back up" that told me he was basically decommitting. But Kalis was Mr. Buckeye talking about how much he loved OSU and that he was going to recruit like crazy to get other top prospects to join him in Columbus. He reminded me of Brewster and Justin Zwick in that respect.

    I will update if I hear anything else.

  • There is a lot of negative recruiting going against OSU (especially from people up north) so I have a feeling this isn't the last of it.

    OSU has a lot of negativity surrounding the program...... hopefully quiet days are ahead which will help us out. 1 avg year of recruiting does not hurt that bad

  • Hoke is negatively recruiting the hell out of OSU. He's telling these guys that OSU will get hit harder than USC and they "shouldn't fall for the same (stuff) Lane Kiffen sold all those SC recruits."

    The national media blitz hurt because it's making it very easy for Hoke (and Bielema and everyone else) to negatively recruit. And these are 17-year-old kids who of course are going to buy what they're being sold.

  • This recruiting class regardless of size will be the biggest bunch of Buckeyes that I will root for. Not taking away from any other Buckeye but the 2012 class will be special because they choose OSU amidst controversy and uncertainty. They deserve immense support from the Buckeye nation. Those that waver and pull out of their commitment are potential players that when the game is on the line would quit there too. We don't need them.

    Those that stay, will become champions.

  • You know what pisses me off more then anything is that we are having all these guys decommit opening up more schollies but that they sit around and dont offer other kids. This whole mentality of offering a limited number of kids or waiting till kids camp to offer or w/e the hell they are thinking there needs to stop now. Why in the hell can they not offer matteo and davidson. I was hoping once fick took over this shit would stop well i guess not. Man im so salty lol

  • I think we all knew this ride was gonna get bumpy but wow! Kalis is the last person I expected to jump ship. Even as recent as week or two ago he seemed good (post conversation with Luke that is).

  • The NCAA "Question & Answer" period can't be over soon enough ... hopefully by the end of September. Then, when all this BS is over and Ohio State gets very little thrown at them ... (all these new allegations are also BS) ... then we go after these Ohio recruits hot and heavy. It would also help if we're 5-0 by then and Michigan is being bounced around. We can only hope ...

    Kalis' mind seems to change like the wind. He is looking at Michigan because he "can practice with Tom Strobel and Chris Wormley" every day. Come on son get your priorities straight.

  • If i were hoke and i were in this situation I would be selling that OSU is going down hard too.

    I think recruiting Kalis would be easy for Hoke. "Here is the deal Kyle, come to Michigan, Kyle Long, number 1 overall pick and recently voted among the top 2 offensive LTs in the NFL, and Alex Boone, all the potential in the world, went to OSU and look what happened." "Come to Michigan, start something amazing, the best ohio players are coming this year, etc etc."

    I know it is apples and oranges but i think the sell would be easy given the circumstances

  • When will the powers that be realize that this is entirely self inflicted. As long as we have a coach in limbo, recruiting will suffer. Even the ncaa issues are not as damaging. In fact, now that the car info has come out, I am not so sure that they will be hit nearly as hard as people are saying. We still have nothing more than tressel failing to report a rumor.
    I dont know what is going on behind the scenes, but they need to get on this coaching search right now. Talk to urban. Talk to whomever else that they feel would be viable (gruden, etc). Make a decision asap if one of these guys want the job. If not, give it to luke now and remove the albatross interim label. Get on it boys.

    Great post. I think the fact these guys are jumping off shows what kind of character they have. 'When the going gets tough....leave'.

    If Luke gets the chance he ought to run it up big on Hoke this November.
