Spartans Top OSU In Big Ten Tourney Title Game

    Michigan State won the rubber match over Ohio State 68-64 in the Big Ten tournament championship game.

    I tend to agree however I don't think a guy like Williams deserves to play....he got put into the game in the 2nd half and he looked awful.....got killed on the boards and didn't hustle

  • Tough game - both teams played hard and pretty well given the intensity of the game. Neither team backed down - but there are some things that have to get fixed this week - transition defense and shot selection. When we pass the ball well like we did vs. Mich, we are very, very good. When we don't, we are a mediocre offensive team

  • You guys bitching about bench time have your heads where the sun doesn't shine.We used nine players in this game, and of the four off the bench, two didn't contribute--Scott and Williams. I am looking at a box score of a famous game between OSU and MSU in 1979 where MSU and Magic beat us in overtime and we used nine players in that game too. MSU used seven. Quit bitching.

  • It was a tough loss but we had played four straight really good games and we simply do not match up well against MSU who always holds us to a low shooting percentage. Isso knows he can count on inconsistent refereeing and he plays very rough which rattles us and takes us out of our tempo and rythmn. Isso is a shrewd coach who gets about 120% out of his talent every year. We still have the NAA's to make our mark. Go Bucks!

    Great game. I believe we converted a 4 pt play at the end to send it to ot. We won our first 8 games in the b10 and were getting national attention but slumped at the end. Made the nit semis back when there were good teams in the nit. Indiana won it. This was the season that put Osu back on the map and the next years team was one of our best till they were upset

  • KAB22: I was at the game. Kelvin Ransey nailed 25 points. Magic got hurt, left the floor and went to the locker room. The place got really quiet. As i recall we were up a couple of points. Then Magic reappeared and the place went into an uproar. You could see the Buckeye players just sort of deflate. The rest is history.

  • Today we just did not play with the poise in critical times that is needed. When we had the little spirt in the second half to go up 7 we lost a little focus and did not put the nail in the coffin. Then the last two minutes of the games we quit passing the ball and went to quickly to a one on one game. Of course it hurt us when Craft picked up his 4th foul. Hopefully when we watch the film on this game these facts will stand out to us and serve to hone in our focus for the upcoming tournament.

  • Should have put Thompson in at some point for Lenzelle to slow Wood down, he did a good job of it in the first half and would have done the same in the second half. Otherwise, I thought the subs were fine.

    I thought Scott held his own during the stretch where Craft was out with his fourth foul. He didn't need to score there, he just needed to keep Appling from penetrating and he did that. The only other possible change that could be argued it putting Ravenel in towards the end to force Green more towards the outside, but as we saw, he hit a big 3 to seal it for MSU and he probably would have done the same if Ravenel were in the game.

    I think a couple things killed it for us, Sullinger having to sit the last 8 minutes of the first half with two fouls and not doing something different to stop Wood and MSU in general from getting out in transition after a made basket.

  • Poor defensive rebounding, failure to guard against the 3 and no contesting of inside shots occurs in every loss we had this year and your not going to win when your pg leads the team in rebounding..

  • OSU will play Loyola at 9:45 p.m. Thursday. Look for them to play WVU or Gonzaga at 4, 6 or 8 on Sat. Thursday's game will be on TNT.
