Spence...

  • I am not sure if any one else noticed this but I watched a replay of the Wisky game today and saw something very promising.During the OT on third down Spence was in the game instead of Nate Williams, not a huge shock because you want him to get after the QB. The thing I thought was interesting was on fourth down Williams started to run on the field and Spence started to run off, the coaching staff immediately grabbed Spence and sent him right back on the field and called Nate to the bench. I think this is exciting because whereas in the past they would have trusted the senior for the big play, they now have the confidence to have him in there when it counts. Again this isn't shocking news as we all know that Spence is going to be a beast but his maturity this quickly is exciting.

  • That boy gets held too much. They need to get him a smaller jersey or something.

  • Nate Williams was injured in the OT on one of Wisconsin's first plays, he was on the field a bit, and helped off.
I think Spence has a tremendous upside, but the coaches probably felt Nate was still not ready to go, he had to get helped up to his feet before he went gingerly to the sidelines.
    Nate probably wanted back in.

  • 83 is right. Nate got knicked up a play earlier and Vrabel waved him off and put Spence in!

Spence is the bright future, along with Miller, Lewis and it was rumored Jamal Marcus was working with the DE's before the Wisconsin kick off, so WSDE Viper/LEO is bright.
Just glad Nate came back from those micro fractures and surgery and a long road back.
This is Nate's last game this week, I hope he has a few sacks and has a monster game on his swan song, he fought his tail off to get back this year.

That makes sense...I just found it weird he got all the way to middle of the field and then viable saw Spence coming off and started yelling... I just love that we have so much young talent!!!

    Breakaway jersey? shrug

If anything guys, it shows us how bright our future is shaping up to be. Trusting a TRUE FRESHMAN in there with the game on the line is not just confidence from the coaching staff, but also builds confidence in Spence knowing that the coaching staff trusts you enough to have the chance to make a play.

    Good stuff!

Always borrow money from a pessimist; he won't expect it back.

Agreed.. and the really exciting part is with a few of the freak athlete LB's that might come in next year it's only going to get worse for B1G offenses! it's great to be a Buckeye!!!
