For the 18th year in a row, Steve Helwagen does his best to predict the final record for the OSU men's basketball team. That squad opens vs. Marquette tonight.
We look at all 31 regular season games, discuss the personnel and share a projection on where the final record might be and, uh, I nailed the overall last year when some of you scoffed they wouldn't lose six games.

Fantastic article Steve ! Funny how Matta tends to get overlooked at times. What a job he has done !!! Solid squad this year. Looking for Amir Williams to really open up !
Still need that Diebler type - a killer bomber . That opens up everything.
The 1960 title team was 25-3. In 1961 the Bucks won 27 straight before losing in the final game in OT to Cincy.
Lee thanks for the correction!
Flip Purdue and Marquette. Your are under rating Marquette and over rating Purdue.
OSU will beat Purdue.
Steve you have done a great job on this in years past, but I have noticed that you are about equally as likely during the Matta years to be off by 4 games. So I am going to hope you are off by 4 games this year leading to a 27-4 record!
“Without winners, there wouldn't even be any civilization.”
Purdue didn't wait long to prove me right, they lost to Bucknell. They will be B1G bottom feeders.
