The DB coach hire needs to be made SOON........

  • The DEAD period( no contact ......PERIOD !!! ) starts Saturday..... little time for a new coach to contact DB recruits ie. Reeves.

    NOTE- I amend the statement in that the Recruit can contact the coach at anytime during his recruitment.

  • Hiring a good assistant is more important then landing a 4-star recruit. You will have a lot of problems if you hire the wrong coach in the next couple of years, in win-loss record as well as future recruiting. Those things cannot be easily fixed. But you can quite easily replace a 4-star recruit. Careful.

    I agree it's important. But in Withers, Meyer has a guy who's coached DBs at a very high level. As co-DC with DB responsibility, Everett will make sure the corners get good coaching. And based on UFM's hires so far, Withers will likely have a great cornerback coach on board to help him.

    When in doubt, punt.

    No debate from me;Quality not Quickness of hire is paramount. That being said, it would be an asset to have a new coach in place prior to Saturday.

    Your absolutely right. OP needs to realize Withers has coached DBs before and he is Co DC. Beyond that OP i'd refer you to the article by Bill K where Armani talked about Withers and how he was telling him about PT and what he would be doing. Also i believe a poster with a source at Armanis school was able to find out how much Armani really enjoyed coach Withers. I think he is more then capable of taking over the DB recruiting duties and oversight while Urban scours the nation for A more specialized coach during the dead period:)
