Allow me to say that I understand this can be a very polarizing topic. This is my perspective on pursuing him as a recruit. Admittedly, when the news of his flippant behavior during his visit became public I became apprehensive about him as a recruit. An entitled talent persona can be cancerous and risky to any organization. He did seem, however, immediately and genuinely repentant. Considering that mentor-ship is one of myriad roles a coach is expected to fulfill, I think dealing with character issues is, and always has been, part of the job. Viewed through this lens it seems reasonable that, from a coaches perspective, this is the first lesson to be taught. If Robert Foster responds well, which he seems to be doing, he has demonstrated that he is malleable and capable of identifying and learning from mistakes. If he has always received preferential treatment, classroom or otherwise, which these athletes often do, why would he expect anything else? I would think that if he responds well Robert Foster would be a prized, albeit risky, recruit.
Now, if only my perspective had any weight to it.

I don't think you do it at the start of a tenure. If Urban had been here and he knows what he can count on with his team leadership, then maybe you have the ability to ensure you can mitigate the risk. But to take a potential powderkeg this early, especially if he ends up like Ray Small (permanent doghouse status), then there is little to gain and so much team chemistry to lose.

Brought cigars in the locker room, jumped on the hood of a car, slept with the wr's girlfriend on the visit, claimed that the coaches told him football was more important than class and quit the team for a season, used fake money at the strip club, propositioned a prostitute, shot a paintball gun out of a dorm, tweeted about his lack of future playing time.
Other than that, just a regular visit
Oh and seemed to be tuned out on the fact that he would have to go to class.
